About this deal

For me, it's a 5-star book. But the intended readership is young people starting out on their journey of political activism. I applaud this, especially as the author is a self-confessed tech dinosaur. But this wasn't made clear to me, a jaded older reader, so that I was deep into the book before I started thinking, 'Great. I agree, but speak to ME.' The author is obsessed with BJ and fails to analyse his own or New Labours' role in poisoning british political habits and discourse. It's almost like the Iraq war, headline obsessed spin culture, undermining of civil liberties, overuse of referendums, and widespread dishonesty didn't occur during 13 years of new labour politics. The fanboy love of another proven liar President Clinton doesn't seem to have abated either. Surely, third way political corruption and mismanagement has fed into the current crisis and created widespread apathy ? The book is also hypocritical. He describes how polarisation is used in modern day politics, using the 'us' and 'them' tactic then later in the book calls up young bright voters 'us' to overturn the norm elected by the 'them' older voters. Freecycle is a free, local online bulletin board dedicated to reusing goods. This is the last possible moment in history when changing course can mean saving lives and species on an unimaginable scale. It's too late for moderation."

and the first thing that comes across about him is his extreme humility and his open mindedness towards other people's opinions.I really enjoyed this book and I think if you are new to the topic, this book is a great opportunity to learn alongside Jane. It gives you great hope that people are acting but also that we can each do more to reduce our environmental footprint and make an impact. I would highly recommend this book. Though he never liked Margaret Thatcher, she never sank this low. Boris Johnson, however? “I have considerable experience of prime ministers,” he writes. “Whether Tory or Labour, none were liars. Johnson was, and is. Fact.” An amazing detailed documentation of the events headed by Jane Fonda - supported by the Greenpeace, called Fire Drill Fridays. Our politics is a mess. We have leaders who can't or shouldn't be allowed to lead. We endure governments that lie, and seek to undermine our democratic values. And we are confronted with policies that serve the interests of the privileged few. It's no surprise that so many of us feel frustrated, let down and drawn to ask, ' But what can I do?'

What can an average Joe do to make things better? Some answers are there, but there is a lot more to complement. it's a call to prayer for young floating voters to vote Labour. It highlights how polarisation, populism and post-truths are deployed to influence the public then he continues to deploy all 3 within this narrative in an attempt to compel the reader to take a stand and rectify the issues in the world by engaging in politics (no bad thing obviously) but ultimately voting Labour. lugesin juba teistest arvustustest, et algus on pikk ja kibestunud - okei, ega vist ei olegi võimalik mittekibestunud olla selle suhtes, mis hetkel maailmas ja eriti briti poliitikas toimub. siiski oleks oodanud natuke vähem... ränti. ma olen Alastairi vaadete ja seisukohtadega iseenesest täiesti nõus, aga isegi mind väsitab, kui ma pean lugema kahe lehekülje kohta kolm korda väljendit "Kamikwasi Trussonomics". see nali töötab ühe korra ja on isegi siis juba paras... dad joke. In the fall of 2019, frustrated with the obvious inaction of politicians and inspired by Greta Thunberg, Naomi Klein, and student climate strikers, Jane Fonda moved to Washington, DC to lead weekly climate change demonstrations on Capitol Hill. On October 11, she launched Fire Drill Fridays (FDF), and has since led thousands of people in non-violent civil disobedience, risking arrest to protest for action. In her new book, Fonda weaves her deeply personal journey as an activist alongside conversations with leading climate scientists, and discussions of specific issues, such as water, migration, and human rights, to emphasize what is at stake. Most significantly, Fonda provides concrete solutions, and things the average person can do to combat the climate crisis in their community. Although I do appreciate everything this book has to say, I cannot deny how ~boring~ it got after a couple of chapters. Why you might ask? Well....I thought the book would launch straight into self help advice about what one can do to help effect change in society. I should have known better! This is Alastair Campbell. If selling or recycling your books is not what you are looking for, keep reading! You may be wondering where can I take used books? Well, I’ve got several options for what to do with unwanted books you want to share! 8. Library But the white colonists did it wrong. They did it wrong because embedded in the development of their institutions of power, their institutions of governance, and economies was the exploitation of things that weren’t considered valuable: people, women, plants that weren’t valuable to the wealth, and to the power, and to the vision that those original white male landholders saw for themselves”
