PF: I’d like to understand why COOP is the number one in Italy. Excuse me, just a question…why do you come here? Joyce Van Patten starred in "Old Fashioned Murder" (1976) as the murderer, and played a minor supporting role in "Negative Reaction" (1974). There’s a clip somewhere of Falk on Carson, excited about the upcoming 1974 “Exercise in Fatality” episode and “new writer” Peter Fischer. I’ve seen it before, can’t find it today. The Set is also said to include two additional versions of the featurette, with subliminal cuts by Dr. Kepple and Columbo, respectfully.

The first of several Peter Falk “Columbo” appearances on Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show”, 9/15/72: Falk on the couch wearing his raincoat: “Listen, Johnny, I don’t wanna plug the show….” Lachman, Marvin (2014). The villainous stage: crime plays on Broadway and in the West End. McFarland. ISBN 978-0-7864-9534-4. OCLC 903807427.Season 1 was released in the UK, by Fabulous Films. However, due to poor sales, they never did release anymore. Rumour has it that the Kino Lorber Columbo Blu-Ray Set will include several exciting extras. Among these will be Dr. Bart Kepple’s original, uncut 35mm featurette “Nothing Happens Until Someone Sells Something,” in a stunning transfer. I watched Columbo in the 70s but inevitably missed some episodes. I was given the box set for Xmas and we’ve watched usually an episode several times a week and are now into Season 5. Some 50 years later I do occasionally fall asleep near the end, but always do a recap. My only comment is that I love Columbo so much that there is no such thing as a bad episode. There are only 69 made between 1968 and 2003 and I treasure every one of them. I only have 14 left and I wish there were many more. My late granddad loved Columbo. I've got fond memories of watching it with him if I was at his house when it was on. Does anyone know what type of folding bicycle that Donald Pleasence took out of the trunk of the Ferrari in S03:E02-Any Old Port in a Storm? As a graphic designer, I prepared a 3D map of Los Angeles to present this work (printed in large format) and I would be proud to offer it to you…Ray Milland appeared as a murderer in "The Greenhouse Jungle" (1972) and the husband of the victim in "Death Lends a Hand" (1971). But what makes Columbo still feel so relevant today is the notion of the crusading little guy. The lieutenant pursued killers regardless of class or status – even going after his own commissioner in one story – and never falters in his belief that, no matter how mighty the murderer, their amassed power won’t stand up to his relentless prodding. As he casually tells a therapist who is trying to get away with strangling his wife: “You take our friend here, the murderer. He’s very smart, but he’s an amateur. I mean, he’s got just one time to learn. Just one. And with us cops, well – it’s a business. We do this a hundred times a year. I’ll tell ya, doc, that’s a lot of practice.” This new release is sourced from brand new new 4K transfers of the original first generation negatives. William Shatner starred in two episodes as the murderer: "Fade in to Murder" (1976) and "Butterfly in Shades of Grey" (1994). He also did a voiceover in "Double Exposure" (1974). Just got your book! Loving it. I happened to be watching Requiem For a Falling Star when your book arrived so I went right to that in your book.

The thing I’ve been hoping for is that it’ll include the Chevy Mystery Hour episode with Bert Freed (and I’ve been reply-guying Kino-Lorber about it just to get it on their radar). But if you’ve already done that, there remainsome excellent resources online to help you strengthen your interest in Columboand connect with fellow fans across the world. Columbo locations map The restoration has been done by Universal Pictures and they're being released by Kino Lorber. The US release date is 21st November 2023. If I post all the links for these, I’ll be unable to submit the comment, but I’ll keep trying. Otherwise, you can scour youtube for these items that can go on a wish list, things you may have already been aware of, but let’s get them in Blu-Ray quality:

From its pilot in 1968 to its curtain call in 2003, Columbo ran for 35 years and comprised 69 episodes. Before Peter Falk was cast in the role of Columbo, Bert Freed played the character in "Enough Rope", a 1960 episode of The Chevy Mystery Show, a TV anthology series. In 1962, that episode became a stage play titled Prescription: Murder (starring Thomas Mitchell as Columbo, Joseph Cotten and Agnes Moorehead as Roy and Claire Flemming, and Patricia Medina as Flemming's mistress [4]).
