About this deal

No. I also got some more balls out of my bag that had not been spun. I aligned the logos up, and putted them from 5 feet and made 21 of 21. Not lining them up I made 18 of 21. The reason that this spot is “sweet” is that, when the CoG of the club head is moving directly towards the CoG of the golf ball at impact, this provides the optimal energy transfer from the club head to the ball. I've seen *some* golf balls definitely be very off balanced and could see it effecting my putts. For instance, I could putt with 3 golf balls from the same line and the first two would roll the same way and the third one would roll much differently despite stroking the putt pretty much the same way. The size of this spot changes based on the golf clubs you’re using and the type of clubs as well. Larger clubs, like drivers, have bigger sweet spots than shorter clubs like wedges.

That’s a great question since it’s not marked on the club. The sweet spot of a typical iron is about the size of a pinhead. It’s typically larger in fairway woods and biggest in your driver. Drivers made for beginners have an even bigger sweet spot. Final Thoughts on Hitting the Sweet Spot Do you have more questions about hitting it in the sweet spot and improving your ball striking? If so, keep reading to learn more about it now. Where is the sweet spot on a golf club? Plus, if you have a good short game, course management, and mental game, anything is possible. While it’s important to groove a consistent swing, don’t forget that scoring from inside 100 yards is what matters most. How big is the sweet spot on a golf club? The other reason that better players don’t like “game improvement” clubs, especially irons, is that, in an effort to generate extra distance as well as forgiveness, these clubs tend to have “hot spots” on the club face. A good golfer needs to know that his 8-iron carries, for example, 164 yards with a good strike. If “forgiveness” technology means that it might carry somewhere between 140 and 180 yards, it’s useless. Grip the club, making sure to keep the clubface square (the bottom of the face should be perpendicular to your target line).Hitting a pure golf iron or wood directly in the middle of the club face is as rewarding as draining a long putt for birdie that had no business going in. As an amateur golfer there’s nothing more rewarding than hitting it in the middle of the face… as they used to say, “Hit it on the screws.” Low on the face: When you hit a ball slightly low on the face the ball doesn’t go as high as normal. But it can still go the maximum distance and why a lot of golfers say “thin to win.” Once you can learn from your tape or spray, it’s time to analyze more in-depth. Golf is a funny sport because one bad move in your setup or alignment can lead to all kinds of swing changes. While you might be missing the sweet spot, figuring out what is causing the miss is challenging. Likewise there is usually a few balls in a dozen that have almost no heavy spot or wobble. I leave these for serious rounds and tournaments. It's sort of like "Don't think about the pink elephant in the room" or "Don't think about the line you drew on your ball."

One great way to see where on the club face you are striking the ball, as you practise, is to spray the face with Scholl foot powder, or the equivalent. When you strike the ball, it will leave a clear mark in the powder coating the club face. All that said, I have one and use it off and on. On cheaper balls you can definately see them jump around more, and tour balls spin more smoothly. So, are balls out of round? Perhaps a bit heavier in one spot than the others but I would not say that the reason you slice the ball 50 yards is not because a lopsided ball. Also, you probably do not miss many putts because the ball is lopsided.

With larger headed clubs, such as drivers, fairways woods and hybrids, manufacturers are able to make the whole club face slightly rounded outwards, slightly “domed”.To do this, you need a simple, efficient and repeatable swing that works in harmony with biomechanics and physics – and there is no better way to achieve this than by learning the Swing like a Champion system. Do they really work...I read in Pelz's putting book that most balls are not perfectly balanced and will wobble when you putt on a green. To make a long story short Pelz had a method (water, epson salt, spinning the ball in the water, etc.) of finding the heavy side of the ball and marking it with a pen to help you align youy putts. Mobile Apps: Mobile apps are digital sweet spot finders that use the camera on a smartphone or tablet to scan the face of the club and locate the sweet spot. The app usually displays a visual representation of the clubface and highlights the sweet spot. Personally I think having the line on my ball improved my game as much as the balancing, but at least I don't worry about it any more. :D I found that I focused too much on the line on my ball and I should have been concentrating on the speed I want to hit the putt and the direction/line I want to start my putt on.
