About this deal

Digital radio has had a significant impact on in-car entertainment over the past decade. The tech is now fitted to almost every new car as standard, and is how more than 60 per cent of us listen to the radio. There is even talk of permanently switching off the FM transmitters in the near future, making many car radios obsolete. Update announcement for models Evoke C-F6 and Evoke F3 with necessary action for continued internet radio service Optionally, you can set up a Bluetooth connection to your phone to enable more features. This is definitely worth doing because it means you can stream music from your phone, including with Spotify, Deezer or any other music streaming service. It also provides access to your phonebook to make and receive calls through the car audio system, hands-free, with impressive quality. On a normal day before I bought this, I struggled to get once radio station and that's BBC Wilt, and that's because I live in Wiltshire. Heart would come and go at whatever time it suited it. Installing this, I was able to get 70 HD voice clear radio stations. I am definitely flabbergasted. Designed as an easy-fit solution for the millions of vehicles on the road worldwide without digital radio, you’ll find Highway 600 easy to install in your car, in most cases you won’t even need any tools, just a few simple steps and you’ll be up and running.

Progress, eh? At some point in the indeterminate future (the government hasn’t actually put an exact date on it yet) the good old faithful analogue radio signal is going to be switched off – which means if you own a car without a DAB receiver, there’s a danger you might have to actually start talking to your passengers unless you do something about it. On the down side though, the main unit comes with 2 AAA batteries, so doesn't get plugged. I knew this from the outset before I bought it anyway. I bought this because it was the best recommended DAB 2018. Approvals : CE marked. Compliant with the R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC. Compliant with UNECE Regulation 10 (E-Mark). EN 62479 : 2010. Hereby, Pure declares that this Band II LPD device is in compliance with the essential requirements and other provisions of the Directive 1999/5/EC. The Declaration of Conformity may be consulted at https://www.pure.com/about/r-tte-doc. But some relatively young cars still didn’t have DAB fitted at the factory, and changing the entire stereo for an aftermarket system is expensive and could lose functionality from a built-in infotainment system. If I had to mention negative points about it, I'd have to say that although it's not bad, it's not quite as sensitive as my old system. That did however have a proper 1/4 wave external aerial, so it's just physics - an outside aerial will always give better results. Also, as a necessary consequence of being battery powered, the controller goes into standby after so many seconds, and also you don't get any programme (SI) information. It does do traffic information (according to the manual), but I've yet to hear any.To install the Pure Highway 400 in your car, you will need a safe and secure place to attach the receiver and antenna, as well as a 12V power source or a USB power point. The antenna needs to be placed on the windshield to get a good reception. The receiver connects to the car stereo via an aux cable. This means your car stereo will need to have an aux input to use this adapter. You can connect simultaneously to your car’s hands free Bluetooth and Highway’s BT music streaming (refer to your handsets BT connection guide).

Company number: 1394141; Registered office: Media House, Peterborough Business Park, Lynch Wood, Peterborough PE2 6EA and H Bauer Publishing, Company number: LP003328; Bauer Media Group consists of: Bauer Consumer Media Ltd, Company number 01176085; Bauer Radio Limited, Setup was simple and took seconds and it boots instantly so there's no delay from turning the car on to the radio playing. You can also stream music from your phone using Bluetooth and it will also stream and control Spotify Premium from your mobile. The wireless display is powered by 2x AAA batteries which are provided in the box. Based on our commuter user case and the default 15s display time out the battery life would be around 8months. The Pure Highway 400 consists of three main parts: the receiver which you place inside the windscreen, and the antenna which is placed externally on the windshield, and finally wireless controller which is attached to the dashboard. Disconnect the USB cable from Highway’s power adapter and plug it into an available USB port on your laptop. Bluetooth : A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile) 1.4 or above, OPP (Object Push Profile) Along with the near-identical Kenwood (top), the Pure 400 is the easiest and neatest adaptor to fit, with just two wires to connect: power and aux out. The display and control unit is wireless and battery-operated, so it can be placed anywhere on the dash without needing cables.

According to my research, the batteries should last 6 to 12 months as the light on the main unit does not stay on throughout; it goes off.Good in high strength signal areas, but it tends to become a little patchy outside of densely populated areas. While this is true of DAB in general, compared to the OEM-fitted DAB systems that come in most of the modern cars we test at CAR, the Pure drops out much more frequently, and for longer periods of time. Next, you’ll need to put your Highway into USB mode. On Highway’s wireless controller, press the Home button and turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘ SETTINGS’>‘ USB UPDATE’> Confirm by choosing ‘ YES’. Note: Once paired with your Bluetooth device, Highway will automatically reconnect whenever it is in range. How long will the batteries of the wireless controller last?
