Connectivity is an area where Skullcandy neither excel, nor disappoint. As mentioned above, there are no fancy codecs here to improve your listening experience. If you haven’t heard of this before, it’s a service that uses Bluetooth to locate misplaced or lost objects. If you’ve misplaced your earphones and you’re still in Bluetooth range, Tile will help you find them. The Indy Evo have three different EQ modes but, after testing them all extensively, I found two of them to be pretty much redundant.
The Skullcandy Indy Evo are a decent pair of true wireless earbuds. They’re comfortable and secure, which alongside the sweat resistance, makes them a good choice to use for exercise, whether that’s gym sessions or running. MY GUESS, is that I am rolling onto the headphone in my sleep, throwing it through the pairing cycle mode, and this is disconnecting them. It has literally never happened while I have been awake/using the earbuds. I love the Skullcandy line of earbuds since each model has a unique feature that appeals to a specific niche of customers. For instance, I have the Skullcandy Indy Evo earbuds, which are precisely what works for me, from the noise canceling to the solo mode. Overall, we’d say that connectivity is decent – but not perfect. You may be able to listen up to 30+ feet (10 meters) away from your paired device though the connection experience may vary based on your environment. This is what most complaints are about. I can guarantee you. I have found that this ONLY HAPPENS when I fall asleep wearing one of the earbuds. I have tried to emulate it, but it only seems to happen in my sleep. Then, place the earbud you are not using in the case . Audio will only be coming out of the earbud that remains in your ear. Minutes of charge for the ear buds will provide 2+ hours of playtime, and 10 minutes of charge in the charging case will provide 4+ hours of playtime.
Each bud will last 6 hours from a single charge, while the case provides an extra 24 hours - so you’ll get 30 hours of music in total from them. Considering the fact that these are cheap headphones, that’s impressive. There’s also full media controls for each bud, so that you don’t have to remember whether you use your right or left to change the volume.
The Skullcandy Indy Evo sound surprisingly good, they won't win any awards for outstanding quality but for day-to-day use they'll be perfectly fine. The sound is quite rich and full, with clear vocals and punchy bass. Sound quality hasn’t always been Skullcandy’s strong suit. Sure, the earphones don’t sound bad, but they usually don’t sound good either. Unfortunately, this is still true of the Skullcandy Indy (cyan), which has a frequency response that looks like somebody forgot to add any bass. While the highs and mids reasonably follow our consumer curve (pink), the lower mids and sub-bass are so under-emphasized that it is difficult to recommend the Indy for anything besides podcasts or Zoom calls. Lows, mids, and highs This allows both the LEFT and RIGHT bud to work alone, which allows more media controls and features to be activated from either side, and the microphone to work on either side. Functions such as, play/pause, answer call/hang up call, Activate Assistant, switching between EQ modes, and Ambient Mode can be controlled on both the LEFT and RIGHT bud, simplifying the user experience. The Skullcandy Indy true wireless earbuds are a pretty good set of wireless earphones. They fit reasonably comfortably and give you a good level of passive noise cancellation. What’s more, these earphones look decent – not chunky or uncomfortable. Take out the earbuds from the case and wait a few seconds as they pair with each other. They will be blinking blue while they do this.
