According to AARP Magazine, being quiet is actually good for your brain health -- because it gives your mind a chance to wander and reflect.

Quiet People” are Often Misread and Misunderstood How “Quiet People” are Often Misread and Misunderstood

In a way, our opening quote turns the above bias on its head and urges us to be biased against quiet people. But apart from calculating gentlemen seemingly plotting our demise, let’s hypothesise further on who they might be. We could be dealing with: My goodness. So many words to simply agree. I believe you most likely were astonishly put to shame by a reserved person & it fractured your ego. Now you want to be quiet to prevent it happening again. Just be yourself. We can tell when you are hiding. 😘 I am the quiet one. I agree with everything I have just “observed” lol well read, obviously was a cute joke. Anyway I wanted to comment about the saying “Beware the quiet one” basically it is more like “Do not beware the quiet one, beware when the quiet one starts to speak” for I have only recently delved deep into my potential. Beware what I am capable of. Not in a dangerous way, but in a life altering way. Society is broken and falling. When it does, I will be there to speak, as will many more. My goal is to spread truth, freedom and unity throughout humanity. That is the path to love, without the lust. Even if society does not fall, I will make a change within it. Somewhere down the line, I will do right by our people, and fight corruption. The ones who should truly beware the quiet ones, are the evil ones.

I’m not going to try to cover every potential motivation of a Dark Horse. But there are three approaches we might look at to get to know them better:

The Quiet People by Paul Cleave | Waterstones

Quiet people have a unique power — everyone, them included, needs to pay more attention to it. Our culture worships loud peopleBefore, when I was called shy, I believed I had to accept what other said as the truth. […] I do feel shy in certain situations, but those feelings aren’t central to my identity. There is much more to me than shyness. – Brittany Wood The irrelevant: Okay, some participants may indeed be less relevant. Have some turned out to be rent-a-crowd, a group of people who serve no function other than making the delegation look more important? Great, that tells us how important the meeting is to our counterparts. Or are we truly dealing with a few inexperienced interns? Perfect, they can potentially provide a more unfiltered perspective. And who knows, they could soon rise in the hierarchy and remember how we treated them when we first met.

the Quiet People in the Room Dark Horses: How to Learn From the Quiet People in the Room

Why did he have to call me “quiet”? I hated being called quiet. People always said it like it was some kind of deficiency—like just because I didn’t put everything out there right away, I was unfriendly or arrogant. My mom had understood. You may be slow to warm up, but once you do, you light up the whole room. ― Jenna Evans Welch, Love & Gelato Suspicion is cast on two successful crime writers, when their seven-year-old son goes missing. Are they trying to show that they can commit the perfect crime? A mesmerisingly twisty, dark thriller from number-one bestselling New Zealand author Paul Cleave… He thinks I’m a snob? He’s not the first. Just because I’m quiet doesn’t mean I’m aloof. Maybe I just want to be alone. Maybe I’m not good at conversation. ― Jenn Bennett, Alex, ApproximatelyOur small-group adventures are inspired by our Atlas of the world's most fascinating places, the stories behind them, and the people who bring them to life. You are surprised, aren’t you, at the contrast between my fame throughout the world… and the isolation and quiet in which I live here. I wished for this isolation all my life, and now I have finally achieved it here in Princeton. Albert Einstein At first glance, the concept of unknown knowns seems paradoxical. It’s part of a conceptualisation of different aspects of knowing and not knowing. The mental model was popularised by another controversial figure of the Bush administration: former Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. In this concept, unknown knowns are the knowledge we don‘t realise we have. Try not speaking for a couple of hours. If you tend to be the first to give an opinion, force yourself to be the last. Not just to hold your horses, but to actively listen to others. Pay attention. Most of the time, silence means that your ideas add nothing to what has already been said. And that’s okay. 5. Get rid of the binary approach (Introverts versus Extroverts) But if you look closely, you’ll see these traits that reveal a whole other side to their seemingly one-dimensional personality: 1. They Speak Only When Spoken To

The Quiet People by Paul Cleave | Crime Fiction Lover

I remember growing-up, classmates would say, “Why don’t you talk more?” I felt something was wrong with me. I enjoyed listening to others, observing the world, and cultivating my inner-self. The psychological depth of the leads bolsters the complex plot. This merits comparison with the work of Patricia Highsmith’ Publishers Weekly STARRED REVIEW But despite being so frugal with their words, they still manage to say everything they need to say.

With great silence comes great productivity. A quiet person is your best bet for getting things done, particularly things that don’t involve other people. The simple most obvious solution is to talk to everyone. But let’s be more specific. Suppose we were to nerd out on prepping for the mother of important meetings. Here’s a more methodical approach we could take to mitigate biases and avoid missing the Dark Horse: That’s the problem of binary questions — you are forced to choose one or the other. Being quiet is a choice — you can be more outspoken in specific scenarios or more withdrawn in others. Gossip is something people do to pass the time, and it’s often something individuals with troubled lives engage in. Drowning out the commotion inside your head by talking to someone else creates a toxic environment. Quiet folks would rather learn something new than cut someone down. 5.
