About this deal

Since I received this unit from my fellow audiophile Pulkit Dreamz, I am grateful to him. And as I've said in all of my evaluations, the same is true for this one: all of the concepts I've expressed below are entirely my own, original ideas that haven't been influenced by anyone else. If interested, go to this link. Here, the bass sounds much better with the IE600. It’s deeper and more defined. However, it sometimes gets a bit too dominant. The soundstage is also bigger. With the IE800S, the vocals take the main focus, the bass is less dominating and the soundstage is smaller with less space between the instruments. I tested all with apple dongle dac. My CTH gave hissing sound to ie600 and 846, not sure if its the amp or iem's sensitivity. It’s not as neutrally tuned as the reference IE 900 is but it’s also much more neutral compared to the fun IE 300. However I do feel it’s closer to the neutral side than it is to the fun side, but this in a musical and slightly warmer way with a smooth delivery. (though the IE 600 is not full warm sounding IEM). The IE 600 is very natural and effortless sounding and it’s actually quite linear (see the bass part later) and balanced. Multi-driver systems have advantages and disadvantages. They make it possible to optimize each driver for the frequency they shall reproduce but at the same time phase incoherence and distortion is a problem because of overlapping between drivers and because of the need for a crossover filter. With a single transducer, everything has to be reproduced by that single driver, which can be as challenge. However, almost every headphone in the world use a single driver so it should not be impossible with IEMs.

The bass is powerful and balances between tight and full in a delicious way. There’s certainly enough rumble. Percussion is tight and punchy, the vocals are just how they should be. Smashing Pumpkins have always fascinated me when they let the guitar and the bass play the same lines. It gives such a powerful sound. With the IE600, you can follow the guitar and bass separately but not in an analytical way. It’s a very full-bodied presentation. I got to hear these as part of the IE600 tour, and they're now on the way to the next listener. Thanks @ericpalonen for the loan. Opinions here are subjective, unvarnished and unquantified. There are details in the introduction that I never even noticed before. These are some extremely revealing in-ears. When the bass enters, it is with great presence and slight but pleasant bloom. Voices are nuanced and natural sounding. Ie600 played both fine. I don't know what to take from this. I have had those songs on my phone for so long n I never felt this way while listening with N3. I think, I will just say that ie600 needs better mastered songs to bring out the full potential (?) and are not very forgiving to rest. With this experience, I moved the comparison only to flac files. The midrange, though, is the star of this recording – very few singers push their voice as far forward in the mix as Stevie Wonder, but then very few singers have the purity and character of tone to get away with it. The IE600 are alive to the tiny contributions made by inhalation and palate noise, and consequently build a vocal performance that’s thrilling in its immediacy. The soundstage of the IE600 is smaller and a bit more focused, except for the bass. In many ways, I often prefer the iKKO, especially the tuning and the bass. The treble is a little bit splashy but the rest is all very nice. Technically the mids are on the same level as the bass section. Good, but not as pronounced as in the IE 900.” With Portishead’s It Could Be Sweet the differences between the Kato and the IE600 are very apparent. The bass is much more present with the IE600, and the general presentation is fuller and darker. The vocals have more presence in the lower mids with the IE600 and in the upper mids with the Kato. The Kato sounds lighter and more airy, the IE600 fuller and with more body.

In this article we review the Sennheiser IE 600 universal In-ear. The IE 600 is selling for €699 Euro. The headphones I love are hd600 and akg k701, esp hd600 with tubes (I use a Cavalli Tube Hybrid). I have owned an LCD 2C, though I loved it a lot I found myself using 600 more. Also had grado sr80 and 225 at some point which followed the same pattern of me moving to 600. Even if the IE 600 sounds more intimate, the IEM’s spaciousness and airiness is natural. Separation-wise the IE 600 scores well, but it’s not as pronounced as in its big brother’s.The IE 600 are supplied with a selection of ear tips in three different sizes with a choice of silicone and memory foam. Both types of tips are very high quality. I tried the memory foam tips and the quality of the acoustic seal was first class, creating a great sound and a high level of passive noise cancelation. The upshot is a comfortable fit that can be worn for long periods without suffering fatigue. The IE 300 is very fun and especially bass lovers will find this typical tuning pleasing, but it is far from neutral or the typical reference tuning. The IE 600 is more refined, more neutral and technically stronger. The bass presence and impact still is good but it is much more normal and levelled out. The IE 600 is a great option if you find the IE 300 too heavy sounding and not revealing enough. The IE 600 will give you more clarity and precision, and it still has a pleasing fun but normal kind of bass. And then there’s the real party piece of recent Sennheiser designs. ‘Fluency’ is a subjective term; it can’t be measured and even the definition is a slightly shaky one. Even with this allowance made, I would be amazed if you didn’t listen to the IE 600 piledriver its way through Show Me How To Love by Audioslave and not be absolutely grabbed by just how together it is. The durable idea that crossovers are inaudible until the moment you take them out of the equation feels very applicable here because there’s so little between you and what you’ve chosen to listen to.

The S12 has a single custom 14.8mm Planar Dynamic Driver, which is both larger and based on a different technology than the 7 mm dynamic TrueResponse driver of the IE600. Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life. For Sara Schweiger, a 9-5 spent listening to and writing about amazing audio gear never feels like work. Time for some slow female jazz vocals. The IE600 doesn’t disappoint. The vocals sound spot on. The trumpet too. The presentation is warm and inviting, detailed and quite spacious.taekwondo, horror movies, trivia, word games, TED Talks, and spinning vinyl with her old-school audiophile The included cable is made of a rubber-like material. I like that it has some friction. It is thin and lightweight. The MMCX cable connectors are protected with a circular flange that will be in the way if you use most 3rd party cables so be aware of this if you want to try other cables. INITIAL LISTENING IMPRESSIONS The bass line is powerful and quite tight but with some bloom. Cohen’s voice is warm and with plenty of body, yet textured as only Cohen’s voice can be. The percussion is crisp but not too bright.
