About this deal

I read this with my 9yo. We were both expecting lots of laughs from this (especially me) as it's another kids book written by a comedian. It came across like very boring. Characters where introduced and that didn’t help. There was no feeling of a story line to evolve.

I will say it was funny and as you can tell by the title there was a lot of toilet humour. I enjoyed some of the illustrations more than the story though! One of my main negatives about the story is the language used by the author. Even I didn't know what some of the words meant so I'm not sure how younger children would! And I couldn't even figure out from the rest of the text. While there’s certainly no shortage of fart-themed books for children, and no sign that the perennial appeal of parps is waning among contemporary readers, actor and comedian Stephen Mangan’s The Fart that Changed the World is a satisfyingly surreal addition to the canon of flatulence-themed fiction. As a young reader, I loved books that made me laugh, scared and amazed. In The Fart that Changed the World, I wanted to tell a story that shows how the smallest (and, in this case, smelliest) action can have BIG consequences. Once again, I have let my imagination run wild and filled the story with as much humour, drama, danger and excitement as I could cram in – now Anita just has to illustrate it all! I can’t wait for children to enter the kingdom and find out how a fart really can change the world.”Wildly funny and endlessly surprising, this is delightfully imaginative, surreal storytelling with a message that small events can trigger big change, and children can be heroes!

Frank - a kitchen boy with a big imagination - is drafted in as an emergency butler. As the banquet descends into a food fight and processions catapult out of control, Frank finds himself in an all-out farty farce. Can he save the day? And so it falls to young kitchen hand Frank to step into the breach (or should that be breeches?) as the royal butler, and it falls also to Frank to step up to save Fabian from unfortunate fart-triggered embarrassment. It's the most important day of the year for King Fabian as he is hosting all the neighbouring rulers. Everything simply must go perfectly. King Fabian wakes up, stretches, and... farts. From the talented brother-sister duo of Stephen and Anita Mangan comes this exciting fully illustrated adventure. We where looking for a funny book but didn’t laugh once when reading the sample. So we won’t bother to read more. If you do nothing, you will be auto-enrolled in our premium digital monthly subscription plan and retain complete access for 65 € per month. Change the plan you will roll onto at any time during your trial by visiting the “Settings & Account” section. What happens at the end of my trial? The point of the storyline was something for children to think about. If you tell a lie, it can have a negative effect going forward! Maybe not change the course of history like King Fabian did, but well... let's just say Mangan wrote accurately about leaders of countries! 😂 The RRP is the suggested or Recommended Retail Price of a product, set by the publisher or manufacturer.

A high-energy, laugh-out-loud adventure story by much-loved actor Stephen Mangan and talented artist Anita Mangan.

As a stage actor, Stephen was nominated for a Tony award for playing Norman in The Norman Conquests. He also played Bertie Wooster in Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense, winner of the 2014 O More Today's the day; King Fabian is hosting all the neighbouring rulers and royals. After months of preparation, everything is running smoothly until King Fabian wakes up, stretches, and farts. His wife is so angry that King Fabian panics and blames the butler, who is dragged away to the dungeons. With the butler gone, Fabian is in trouble. He might wear the crown, but the butler was the brains behind his reign. How will indecisive Fabian pull of this high-pressure event without him? Stephen Mangan is an author, but he has many other talents! In fact, he is also a script-writer, comedian, presenter and actor.
