About this deal

Why is 5 stars the limit??!! OMG!!! I LOVED, loved this freaking book!!! The entire time I was reading, I had a sense of foreboding. The style in which it is told felt like a confession and immediately I was apprehensive. Sigh. Lovely. My poor tear-ducts. Lol You yourself were a student at Columbia University on September 11, 2001. What was it like writing about this experience through fiction? Were your own experiences similar?

But Bobby, Iris's best friend, isn't about to let her hide away. He convinces her to come with him to a famous autumn street fair in Little Italy. As they walk around enjoying all the food and life the neighborhood has to offer, a little family-run gelato shop catches her eye—it's the same shop that's in an old photo of her mother's. You are not alone in this. Many readers have felt the pain of finishing it with such an ending. I’m glad you liked it! Lydia and Freddie. Freddie and Lydia. They’d been together for more than a decade and Lydia thought their love was indestructible. But she was wrong. On Lydia’s twenty-eighth birthday, Freddie died in a car accident. It was the first time you said that to me. The first time any man had. “I love you too,” I answered. I loved it until about 75% in and then the turn of events made me angry. I wasn’t okay with the decisions Lucy made. Who thinks their husband is cheating for 6 months and never confronts him? I just couldn’t agree with the horrible choice Lucy made. And there was no closure. Did her and Darren make it? Ugh. This story was weary in some ways, but of course the multi-dimensional characters made it all the more interesting. Writing and editing feel like such distinct activities to me. When I’m writing, it’s an act of creation, really, turning nothing into something. Editing is more about shaping, discerning someone else’s vision from their story and then helping them realize it in the clearest, most honest way they can. On some days, I prefer writing, and on other days I prefer editing, but they’re both things I enjoy doing very much. Love does that. It makes you feel infinite and invincible, like the whole world is open to you, anything is achievable, and each day will be filled with wonder.”

Comparisons will be made to David Nicholls’ One Day, but there is something more romantic here—yet also more grounded—that will draw readers in.”— Booklist It makes the case that you can love different people in different ways. Great book and great article covering it.

That something so small could be so beautiful. Worth so much. Only the strongest people can turn away from feelings like that.” But then something inexplicable happens that gives her another chance at her old life with Freddie. A life where none of the tragic events of the past few months have happened. Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away.
