About this deal

Simply wind the watch until you feel resistance on the crown—a motion best done at the same time each day—and enjoy a vintage-inspired appeal that has stood the test of time. I’ve bemoaned the longevity issues surrounding Timex’s metal plated watch cases. This privately borrowed Timex Weekender and my own Easy Reader each have a decade on them. They’re holding up well, but neither owner has exposed their Timex to salt water, caustic chemicals or abrasive environments; and avoided dropping and bashing into things. If you’re lifestyle includes these horological dangers be prepared to practice Wabi-sabi. The Timex Weekender series is a minimalist exercise in affordable timekeeping. This Chronograph (model: TW2P62300) is another example of the things that make a Weekender great: simplicity, ease of use, and timeless style. Water-resistance is the ability to resist the penetration of water to a certain degree. Waterproof means that water is not allowed to pass through it. At this time Timex only sells water-resistant watches. I bought my Weekender most probably 3 years ago and thought that maybe it wouldn't last that long and I gotta buy another watch for rough use very soon. But surprisingly till now, it has been able to keep up with my rough use with just having some minor scratch in it. The more interesting fact is, I haven't even had to change the battery even once!

While the Weekender Chronograph doesn’t have a timing bezel or slide rule, its 40-millimeter case size and short, curved lugs make it an excellent choice for smaller wrists. As far as I know, no one ever faced any time issue in this watch including me. It's quite handy and useful. The variant of the Weekender that I bought was a 38mm dial. The size of the dial felt very decent and comfortable to me. This was suitable enough to fit on any man's average-sized wrist without becoming overbearing. Before Timex went nuts with Peanuts and vintage reissues, their everyman Weekender was their darling. In the dozen years or so since its introduction, the modest Weekender continued the ethos of Timex as cheap and cheerful timepiece, continuing its influence on the bottom end of the horological market. Helped in no small part by its signature move . . .

The paper rolled up inside the stand is warranty information and such, not an operation manual. You will have to look elsewhere online for that (or watch my review video). The Revival El Primero A3817 chronograph is named after the watch’s movement, which was the first high-frequency chronograph movement. I don’t see it holding up well in more active or dangerous situations, and while Timex says it has 30m/98ft worth of water resistance, I don’t think I’d take it for a swim either. Strap and Clasp The Weekender's efficiency to mix and match various watch faces and NATO strap options basically mean you can wear it everywhere. You can be creative with band colors and adorn them to your heart's content. Durability Very little information can be found about it when searching online. I was only able to find the user manual and not much else.

The reason for this is that creating a mechanical or automatic chronograph movement that’s small and thin enough to fit in a smaller watch is very expensive, meaning only some of the most streamlined or luxurious brands can afford to do it. Chronographs also have the ability to perform mathematical calculations or time the steak on the grill. But when it comes to the best chronographs for small wrists, there just aren’t any options. The El Primero movement premiered in 1969, housed in the same case as the A3817. Even 50 years later, it’s still one of the best automatic chronograph movements available. And, to add to the El Primero’s cool factor, it features a tachymeter and a pulsometer on the bezel. Final Thoughts

Timex Weekender is so far one of the best classic watches on an affordable budget. The Weekender comes in a variety of designs, sizes, and colors but the most alluring one is the classic leather strap (especially genuine leather strap) or NATO strap with the clean face. As I am kind of a watch enthusiast, I naturally ended up having a collection of different timepieces. One day while going through my watch collection, I discovered my trusty old Timex Weekender . I have been using it for a fair amount of time and can safely say that it's worth the money. So, I combined my experience and some digging to give you the ultimate Timex Weekender review. I love me some inexpensive watches, but the 30M “water resistance” is a deal breaker for me. I just don’t trust it, even for hand washing. The quartz chronograph movement Timex uses is called the W92. It’s a fairly simple and robust movement that powers millions of watches sold all over the world. It is not exclusive to the Weekender Chronograph. It also powers the Expedition Chronograph and many other Timex chronograph models. Unlike some watches – where my dinky wrist (6.5″) takes the tightest hole (watch it!) – the Timex Weekender is a unisex watch with about an inch of adjustment on either side of my wrist. The webbing is firm and substantial without being stiff or bulky. The holes aren’t stretching or fraying yet, so mission accomplished. The Weekender's got a useful feature. It is 30m water-resistant although it's not meant for excessive immersion in water. To verify its water resistance rating, I swam with it and kept it under a 30m water vessel. To be very honest, I got myself very astonished as the Weekender could handle all these torments very efficiently. It did not leak or compromise its performance.
