Where did you buy it? Big box stores like Screwfix get Makita to make them a batch of drills to a price so they can sell them cheaper. To keep the cost low Makita might use lighter duty components inside, giving a lower spec drill! Often if you google the model number on a Screwfix drill you'll discover that its only available from the Kingfisher group stores.
