About this deal

Connect the Pl2303 cable to your PC/laptop via usb and look in device manager to find its COM port reference - usually COM3 or COM4. Some PL2303 cables require an old driver from 2006/8 to work so be aware of this, the supplier of the cable should provide this to you. When trying to add a software update for MTS Russia, we will receive an error because we are trying to upload incompatible software. I was using load balancing and while it mostly worked, it wasn't perfect and each firmware revision seemed to change the behaviour.Of course, there are no miracles in practice, the LTE speeds drop down in real use. Wi-Fi bandwidth is also a fraction of the theoretical value: between computers in the LAN and WLAN during testing it did not exceed 288 Mbit/s. Like other desktop routers, the ZTE MF286 has four Gigabit Ethernet ports, a USB 2.0 port for connecting a USB drive and file sharing, as well as an analog telephone line connector. Of course, there is also a built-in modem and a slot for mini SIM cards, under the plugs, two SMA connectors for the external LTE antenna. I never got it to switch automatically (I don't use it with my newer Asus XT8 Wi-Fi 6 system) but did use the USB to share a tethered mobile data connection with reasonable results. Another reason for keeping it. Have you experimented with other firmware? Was reading about it over here and recognised the name . home/scl/ci/workspace/Soft4_MF286D_H3GSE_CPE/build_folder/qsdk/build_dir/target-arm_cortex-a7_uClibc-1.0.14_eabi/linux-ipq806x/zte_genl_kernel-1.0/zte_genl_kernel_main.c[173]: INFO:send msg to user ok, cmd=1, msg=0000

Yes that was my mistake, I thought the root_uImage was mtd9 only, next time I'll "read the question" Finally got some adapter cables to allow me to connect my external aerial directly to the inside connections.

That picture is going about a lot, I've no idea where that's coming from, but it's rubbish. To suggest that a single antenna port can only support 2 bands is daft, otherwise how else would MIMO work? It's unlikely that ZTE would limit the MF286D to band 7 and 38 on the second port when it's a global device so I would pay zero attention to that. Just a couple of general OpenWrt queries. Can you disable the very unsecure WPS button? Can you totally disable WiFi? Bridge Mode does not work? You can only double NAT via DHCP for WAN port use? This router connects to the internet using the Three 4G network, just like your mobile phone. It uses a SIM card to get online, rather than using a traditional fibre broadband connection.

I've been blogging at Ken's Tech Tips since 2005. Our verdict: we rate the Three 4G Hub 4.5 out of 5. It offers fast speeds, good Wi-Fi signal, and great value for money. However, you can get better speeds for roughly the same price with the Three 5G Hub. i've not seen anything for telnetd or ssh in the firmware web gui, though I did see some mention of it on the polish forum? If you can't change the DNS to something like Cloudflare or Google, or whatever, and it works with a separate router then I guess the (if more untidy) solution is to continue with that 'fix'. After configuring your LTE modem, you can follow Basic configuration to proceed with other configuration steps, such as setting up your Wi-Fi.
