Besides havoc and ruin, there is another trail that Cypher leaves behind; legend and rumour abound after the passage of the mysterious robed figure. The intrigue over his rapid departure is further magnified by the inevitable wave of ensuing questions. Sometimes these interrogations will be conducted by Inquisitors or their agents, while at others Chaos Space Marines seek more knowledge about the cryptic figure that weaves in and out of their strongholds, never revealing his true name or purpose. Cipher lets Malachi in... but he never lets go of his pistols. Reflex-gunned the Librarian down as he drank in on the motherload of secret-keepers. The final distinguishing feature of Cypher is his sword. Herakkon should have had the ability to instigate an emergency recall of key Custodes or have been able to lean on further Imperial Institutions. Ancia at his side, Herakkon would not have gone down, and have been in full position to deny Cipher at the end (yet without dying, would not have had the insight to make the decision he did). There's this recurring Cypher maneuver in this book I would like to call the Cypher Drill. Unlike Mozambique Drill, which is two to the chest, one to the head, it does this. First Bolt Shot to interrupt someone/disarm. Second Bolt Shot to strip armor, typically a head shot. Rendered completely unnecessary by the third shot -from the Plasma Pistol coring the poor bastards noggin or hearts. Some self-congratulating internal monologue followthrough. During the beginning of the Horus Heresy, Cypher would assist in a prison-break and extraction of Garviel Loken, a member of the Knights-Errant who was sent to Caliban by Malcador the Sigilite to determine the allegiance of Luther. Working with Iacton Qruze, a old friend from the time of the Great Crusade, Cypher managed to exfiltrate both from the dungeon, but ultimately refused their offer to join them as one of Malcador's agents.
