About this deal

Meanwhile, the royalty of Orea are calling for a Conflux in which Auren must answer for the death of King Midas. In the process they are spreading vicious rumors about Auren swaying the public opinion in their favor. star equals a bad book. I barely finished this book and I will never recommend anyone waste valuable book reading time on this book.

The Wrath is at the top of my list for favorite characters. They bring a bit of lightness as well as delicacy in helping Auren and Slade through this book where they start to heal. Additionally, Digby is taking his role as Aurens guard very seriously and it really warms the heart. Her smile breaks through like the sunlight above us. “The song of home,” she says. “The sun is singing the song of home.” King Midas rescued me. Dug me out of the slums and placed me on a pedestal. I’m called his precious. His favored. I’m the woman he Gold-Touched to show everyone that I belong to him. To show how powerful he is. He gave me protection, and I gave him my heart. And even though I don’t leave the confines of the palace, I’m safe. He’s sinister and powerful and entirely too seductive. I’ve learned my lesson with trusting manipulative kings, so why does my chest constrict every time he’s near? I need to tread carefully, or I’m at risk of losing much more than just my freedom. But with Slade by my side we will fight the monarchs that come for us. And if we need to become the villains, then so be it.The Character dev is off the charts in this book! Slade is the main focus and we pretty much get it all (I also really enjoyed learning about Ryatt and their family dynamic). Additionally we get new POV chapters from Queen Kaila, Osrik and Rissa. However, these chapters end up being very few and far between. Especially with Kaila, my gripe is that we didn’t get enough! She ends up with maybe three chapters total I think? All at the beginning of the book, which seems like such a missed opportunity. I just needed more. And the way in which her chapters so abruptly come to an end makes it feel like Kaila was an ultimately forgotten, afterthought. Ok. Whew. First off this book was heavy. You knew coming off of the end of Gleam that this was not going to be a light and breezy book, even on top of Auren still working through a decade of grooming and abuse. You knew her recovery was going to be painful and that this combined with everything else would take time. Every step of her journey, loss, and healing in this book is slow, delicate, careful, heartbreakingly realistic, perfectly depicted, and beautifully handled. There wasn’t a single question, discussion, thought process, or scenario in my mind that the author did not explore which I, as an abuse survivor on the “other side” of life in a healthy and loving relationship, both loved and appreciated SO MUCH.

Known for his brutality on the battlefield, his viciousness is unsurpassed. But I know the truth about what he is. The sun,” Auren answers quietly, tone filled with a tentative, innocent joy. One that you’re afraid of saying too loud in case it breaks. “She’s singing to me.” Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold. This book has quite a few spicy scenes, a lot of emotion, and towards the end really hooks into you. The character development is so fantastic and you get so drawn into your favorite characters and how they change.

Customer reviews

Towards the end I would recommend having some tissues nearby and there are a couple of parts in the middle that may also have you tearing up. If you are reading this as a part of a binge you will likely have more moments of tears than if you were to read this like I am as the books come out. Glow Book Review stars equals a great book. I might buy an ebook version when it’s on sale so that I can re-read it at least one more time. This is the captivating second book of The Plated Prisoner Series. It’s an adult epic fantasy story blending romance, intrigue, and beautiful imagery. Return to the seductive world of magic inspired by the tale of King Midas, and get caught up in the world of Orea. The most positive comment would be that no matter what raven Kennedy writes I end up wanting more. I wasn’t going to continue with this series after this book cause the length was to much, but alas here I am searching when the audio will be realised for book 5.

I may be out of my cage, but I’m not free, not even close. In the game of kings and armies, I’m the gilded pawn. The question is, can I out maneuver them? Glow is the fourth book in the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy. I have to say I am upset right now, only because there is a cliffhanger in this book that devastated me and now I have to wait a year before I can find out what happens. Glow was emotional devastation. And. I. Loved. It. Focusing on strong character development rather than in depth plot helped take us on an emotional journey with these characters. Diving deeper into Slade's childhood has been so insightful to him as a man and as a King. Everything is amplified in this book. The spice is OFF the charts, we gain far more POV chapters (some of which are VERY exciting), we get WAY more Wrath interaction, we get a new budding couple who I absolutely adore, we finally connect the dots to all of the questions we have about Auren’s past after her time with Zakir, we get the true fleshing out of a relationship between Auren and Slade, we get 110% more brother content between Slade and Fake Rip (his brother, Ryatt), we get 210% more emotions, we travel to the very ends of Orea (literally), and encounter far more…interesting characters, there is just SO much MORE in this book.

I did a bit of skimming at times because the story was so in depth and there were characters I just didn’t even care to read their perspective. That is my only complaint in this book. By bestselling author Raven Kennedy, comes the first book in a stunning new fantasy series, perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L Armentrout. Wow, the HANGOVER from this book is legit! I still can't shake it, and my thoughts keeps changing accordingly!
