About this deal

During the turn of the 20th Century, there was a street gang that managed to control politics in Birmingham. They were called the Peaky Blinders and, if you’ve heard of them, it’s because the BBC series that tells their story is quite a success. Irish brand Bushmills has partnered with the company behind British drama Peaky Blinders to create a limited edition whiskey ahead of the debut of the show’s final series. The bottle for Bushmills Prohibition Recipe is inspired by the 1920s We couldn’t be more thrilled to have entered into such a fitting partnership between our show, Peaky Blinders and Bushmills,” Caryn Mandabach, the producer and owner of Peaky Blinders, said in a statement. “We are delighted the U.S. fans can toast the launch of this historic, final season on Netflix with this limited-edition partnership whiskey.” The bottle, a recreation of the vintage Bushmills bottle used as a prop within several Peaky Blinders episodes, features design elements inspired by the 1920s such as a visible cork lid and blue-tinted glass.

This injunction was denied last year, with a judge ruling that Caryn Mandabach Productions Ltd was not able to prove that it owned a protectable trademark in the name, that Sadler’s Brewhouse Ltd’s products were likely to cause confusion, or that the alleged confusion caused it irreparable harm. However, Caryn Mandabach Productions caught wind of this and sent a stern warning letter to Sadler’s in 2018. The rebuke came despite the former owner of Sadler’s being a descendent of a real Peaky Blinders gang member. It’s rumoured that those belonging to the criminal enterprise used to drink in the brewery’s venues, which was what inspired the launch of its branded products. The following indicators should be taken as only a guide and not a set of hard and fast rules. Some "premium" whiskeys really are quite terrible, while some mass market products are good enough to pour into a decanter and serve to the Duke of Edinburgh. A+: A masterpiece and one of the ten best whiskeys of its type. Above five stars. Earlier this month, The Sun revealed that the production company has its own plans to open a line of Peaky Blinders-themed bars and restaurants. Now, in partnership with the very much real Endemol Shine North American and Caryn Mandabach Productions, Bushmills has released its Prohibition Recipe Irish whiskey, in celebration of the release of the show’s final season in the United States.

The new Bushmills Prohibition Recipe Irish Whiskey has been unveiled ahead of the ‘highly anticipated’ sixth and final series of Peaky Blinders, which will debut on 10 June. When you find a whiskey inspired by a TV show, what one often expects is an average spirit created just to capitalize on the fans’ interest. But, Peaky Blinder Irish Whiskey is actually a nice dram. It has a fine balance on the palate and you can tell there’s work behind the blend. As a pleasant Irish whiskey, it is soft and easy, a good dram for those who love the Irish but also a great whiskey to start your journey. And all at a really nice price-quality ratio. B and B-: Good and above average. The best of the mass market whiskeys fit in this category, as do the bulk of the premium brands. A B- is three stars. The launch will be supported by a national advertising campaign, co-branded retail suite, an influencer campaign and Garrison-inspired pop-up events. Regardless of ancestral associations, the TV show’s production company later sued the brewhouse for trademark infringement, asking the court for an injunction to stop Sadler’s Ale from selling its products. Sadler’s, an English brewery, has launched a full range of spirits inspired by the Peaky Blinders’ story. Among them, there’s a bourbon and also this Peaky Blinder Irish Whiskey. It is an Irish whiskey finished in Sherry casks and bottled at 40% ABV. With this new release, we celebrate Bushmills’ long history and the continued ageing of whiskey during Prohibition,” said Egan.

Peaky Blinder Whiskey Details

On the palate, Peaky Blinder Irish whiskey is a fresher whiskey than what you expect from its color. It is quite fruity, with soft banana and peach notes and a touch of orange peel. There are some sweet vanilla notes and a subtle touch of honey, accompanied by light hot chocolate notes and a touch of custard. As the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery and one of only a handful of distilleries to survive the 13 long years that preceded repeal day, this whiskey represents uncompromised quality and perseverance in the face of adversity – a story that is shared by both Bushmills and the Peaky Blinders.”
