Product Information

For children between 1 and 5 years – the recommended dose is 2.5 ml of syrup 3 times a day (corresponding to 52.5 mg of dry extract of Hederae folium – ivy leaf). Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. The safety of this product during pregnancy and breast-feeding has not been established, therefore the use of this product during pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended. If symptoms worsen or persist for more than 7 days, a doctor or a qualified healthcare practitioner should be consulted. In the event of persistent symptoms like fever, shortness of breath, or purulent or bloody expectancy, consult a doctor immediately. For adults and children over 10 years – the recommended dose is 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day (corresponding to 105 mg of dry extract of Hederae folium – ivy leaf). If necessary, the adult dose can be increased to 7.5 ml of syrup 3 times a day (corresponding to 157.5 mg of dry extract of Hederae folium – ivy leaf).

How expiry dates affect other types of medicines

Do not use it if you are allergic to ivy, sorbitol or any of the other ingredients in Prospan ® by Helixia ®.

Studies investigating the effects of Prospan® Cough Syrup on other medicines have not been performed. Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without prescription. The other ingredients are potassium sorbate (Ph.Eur.) (Preservative), anhydrous citric acid (Ph. Eur.), Sorbitol 70% solution (crystallizable) (E420) (Ph.Eur.), Xanthan gum, cherry flavor , purified water. If symptoms worsen or persist after 7 days, a doctor or qualified healthcare pratitioner should be consulted. The use of this product in children under 12 years of age is not recommended because data are not sufficient and medical advice should be sought. Contains sorbitol. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance should not take this medicine. 4.5 Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interactionCoughs can spread easily amongst a family, lingering for days, even weeks. When you want to take action, turn to Prospan for a clinically proven herbal cough medicine that can be given to the whole family. Allergic reactions (urticaria, skin rash, dyspnoea) and gastrointestinal reactions (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea) have been reported. Take Prospan ® by Helixia ® for at least 1 week or longer depending on the nature and severity of your condition. It is recommended to keep taking Prospan ® by Helixia ® for 2–3 days after your symptoms have disappeared. Please refer to the above chart for proper dosage by age. Warnings & Precautions

ml syrup contains 0.7 g dry extract of ivy leaves (Hederae folium) (5 -7.5): 1 Extraction agent: ethyl alcohol (ethanol) 30% (m / m) All of which means it's a very good idea to do a regular purge of your medicine cabinet. You might want to put a reminder in your diary every six months - or more often if you take multiple medicines. The safety of this product during pregnancy and lactation has not been established, therefore the use of this product during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended. 4.7 Effects on ability to drive and use machines

Consult your doctor or qualified healthcare practitioner if your symptoms worsen or if symptoms persist after using the product for 7 days, if shortness of breath, fever or bloody phlegm occur, if side effects listed in section 4 become serious or if side effects not listed in section 4 occur. Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, ivy leaf or to any of the excipients. 4.4 Special warnings and precautions for use Consult a healthcare professional if you have any side effects or if your symptoms persist or worsen.
