About this deal

The winner of the game is the first person to land on “The End” and you don’t need a correct number on the Jumbo Movement Die to do so. They are the ultimate Smart Ass. What we thought of Smart Ass Hard Ass Square: If you land on this square after rolling the movement die, you’ll need to answer a bonus question from the Hard Ass pile of cards. Only you will be able to try and answer this question. Get the answer right, and you get another dice roll. If you get the answer wrong, play resumes as usual. You move your token the number of spaces on the movement die and keep moving until you reach the end of the game board.

The Spruce / Sage McHugh Competition: With a million games on the market, the ‘best’ is up to personal preferenceThe idea is to start with the yellow side of the cards, then follow up with the green if you run out. This helps to keep the game as fresh as possible. The player who won the round can roll now the numbered die and moves his token according to the number rolled.

We enjoyed the game, and there were certainly quite a few laughs as we tried desperately to guess some of the answers. Even more as we then had to google who some of the people were to help explain them to other players. That means that if you have someone in your family who you often think of as a know-it-all, they’re not guaranteed to win every game. While the question is being asked, anyone can yell out an answer – but they’re only allowed to do this once. If no one answers the question correctly after the last clue is given, then the player who asked the question wins the round.

Smart Ass Review: A Must-Have Board Game for Trivia Buffs

If no player can be separated as the winner, then a tie-breaker question (from the "hard ass" category) is needed to be asked. Each question card lists 8 clue on it. Starting at the top of the list the player reads down the clues and other players can shout out an answer at any time. But, players only get one go at answering each question. So, if they get it wrong they’re frozen out responding to the rest of the clues. Then a question is being asked from that category and every player can yell out an answer at any time, but they can do this once. However, there’s actually plenty of questions throughout the entire game that you might not be able to answer regardless of your age. Although there’s no specific rule in this game that dictates how much time a player can take to answer a question, you can set your own restrictions if you’re in a rush. Consider using a little sand timer to keep the game running at a rapid pace. The last year as seen us play loads of board games together as a family. We’ve found them a fantastic way of getting people of all ages together, laughing and bonding in a way that sitting in front of the TV just can’t compete with. We’re also using them as a bit of a stealth way of educating the kids. Whether it be understanding the concept of taking turns for the younger children, or building the older ones’ general knowledge, board games are an excellent way of doing both as a family. When I saw Smart Ass at Blog On I knew that it would be perfect for that general knowledge building for the older kids. Smart Ass is all about showing off if you know the answer. Or even if you just think you do. It’s perfectly acceptable to shout out the answer and totally goes against the way that some kids feel that it’s not right to be seen to be smart. Additionally, it’s fun to know that the person who answers the most questions correctly won’t necessarily be the one that wins the game. Remember, anyone can give an answer at any time, although each player only has one chance to answer the question on each card. In the rare occasion when two people answer the question at the same time, you’re going to need to decide for yourself who should be given the points. One of the biggest draws of trivia games – particularly for parents and families, is that they can be a great way to learn something new.A starting player is now chosen and he rolls the category die (colored die). Usually, the oldest smart ass player is chosen to be the reader of the first question.
