About this deal

There is also a pre-installed fan in the rear chamber with room for more, plus a bottom-mounted PSU which has a dust filter on the bottom of the case and also a couple of velcro straps that one would assume are to help hold cables down and out of the way, again to allow for better airflow and a bit of tidiness. The biggest downside of this case is the ITX motherboard that’s required (as they’re generally limited compared to ATX/mATX options), but if you want a small form factor case that actually looks like a traditional prebuilt NAS, this is the one. There is also a comprehensive User Guide which nicely illustrates the build steps, fitment and equipment options and even includes detailed panel dimensions with mounting hole offsets. If you’re installing a couple of ssd’s in the front face of the case you’ll discover there’s not a lot of room left in there.

As you have previously seen the Node 804 comes down and can be stripped to pretty much just its frame.Cases for NAS devices are generally smaller form factor, meaning they’re either designed to be extremely small (in the case of ITX-only cases) or look more like a cube so they can maximize hard drive space. There are countless server cases out there for cabinets, depending on how much capacity you need with the NAS.

This window will be subject to scratching and damage over time, but at least it was fully protected with peel off film when it shipped. Power cable length for the fan controller – because its so short, you have to run a sata power cable all the way around the mobo for just for it. Looking at the old Fractal Arc Mini R2 (which i used to built my NAS, but which is not produced anymore, unfortunately), it is near perfect for a cheap cost-concious home NAS build where hot-plug capabilities and 99.Whether you're looking to build your very own NAS or a more compact cube PC, the Fractal Design Node 804 is a solid choice. The Node 804 is a dual chambered cube case that offers quite a few differences over those of similar design from competitors. The Fractal Design Node 804 is one of the most suggested cases and is arguably the best NAS case you can purchase.

Well, the Node 804 has room for 4x 240mm radiators which should be more than enough for any hardware users will be installing inside it. Broadly speaking, the Fractal Node 804 is divided into two main side-by-side chambers, one for the motherboard and PCI-E cards and the other for the power supply and hard drives. It doesn’t support as many hard drives as the Fractal Design 7 XL case above, but 10 hard drives are more than enough for most people. There is not a lot of room to work within the area behind the front cover, and fully populating it with drives will be somewhat difficult due to all the cable routing. Top (right chamber) - 240/280 mm radiators up to 130mm thick (with fans) may be fitted if the HDD drive bays are taken out or placed elsewhere. When it comes down to it, if you are looking for an m-ITX/m-ATX case the Node 804 is an excellent option that is jam packed with features for novices and enthusiasts alike.
