The groups of Blobs on these cards are acting in many familiar 'human' ways: celebrating, worrying, feeling left out and supporting each other. Choose an negative emotion and talk about ways to speak to and support someone who we can see feels this way. Over 50 suggestions for use are detailed in the accompanying activity cards; including ways of using individual cards to facilitate discussion, identifying the positive and negative feelings of the Blobs shown on the cards, as well as combining cards to show more complex situations. The accompanying activity cards suggest several different ways of using the cards with individuals or groups to initiate discussion and reflection around emotions. If there are four people the maximum number of cards dealt may be 13 rather than 10, with three people you can go up to 17.

Perhaps the most widespread scoring method is to award 1 point for each trick won plus a bonus of 10 points for players who win exactly the number of tricks they bid. It keeps track of dealing, bidding, and scoring, with two bidding variations and three scoring variations, for up to 10 players with starting hand size up to 10 cards. Jokers could not be led (unless the player had no other cards) and could not be played in the first trick.

Individuals or groups can start discussions by identifying themselves, or others, with an individual or group of blobs whose actions or feelings represent their own. Some play for a single winner, who is the player with the highest score when the whole series of hands has been played.
