About this deal

There are an estimated 70 million pet dogs in the United States and another 85 million in the European Union. Haven't noticed any dog poo bins close by (I know there's one to the entrance of the field where DH runs the dogs but that's a bit of a trek. The ‘normal’ bins that you see in public are okay for dog poo if you can’t see a specific dog poo bin around.

PetFusion Outdoor Waste Disposal Bin for Dog Poop and Cat

If you live in an apartment or somewhere where you don’t have access to outside space, then your best bet is to bag it up and put it in the bin. You won't get a fancy lid, but it will be cheaper and less trouble to install, and will use less water. I have mostly been talking about dog and cat waste but we keep half a dozen or so guinea pigs in the garden bedded on straw (or currently rape straw). Thing is, we've got two young autistic children who tend not to like wearing clothes so going out to dispose of the poo would involve a LOT of hassle with getting them dressed (and I'm potty training DS2 right now) and out etc. The treated waste is then buried in the ground or added to a compost bin, where it breaks down very quickly.By ‘pet waste’ I mean excrement and bedding, here I talk mainly about dog and cat waste but there is also rabbit and guineapig bedding.

Dog Waste Bins - Kingfisher Direct Ltd

After all, dog poo can contain harmful bacteria that can pose a serious health risk to both humans and other animals. Just wanted to say don't flush kitchen roll down the loo - we've just had to pay a fortune to get our drain unblocked as unbeknownst to me ds2 was happily flushing cat poo wrapped in kitchen roll . You could re-use any plastic bags - bread bags, frozen food bags, carrier bags - at least you know if you've filled them with poop and sent them off for incineration, they aren't going to end up as litter or in the ocean! There are some good pet waste composter or digester units on the market, but most of them cost a dog and a leg, and they cannot withstand high temperatures to kill pathogens that pose a serious health risk. This is because Scottish law requires that all animal waste is disposed of safely to reduce the risk of disease spreading. If your dog goes for a number two whilst you are out on a walk, you need to pick it up and dispose of it. There's no set formula for the size of hole as it will vary with soil type, weather, dog's diet etc. The United States’ third leading cause of water pollution is dog waste, which contains nutrients and pathogens that cause disease and contaminate water supplies.

The composting bin must be layered correctly and filled regularly to keep the temperature high - vital to kill the pathogens in dog waste. If there is no ‘dog waste only’ bins available where you live, then you can either put the bagged poo in with your other household rubbish or take it home with you and dispose of it yourself. According to some sources, flushing dog waste is not always safe, and the water used to flush it is frequently toxic. If infected, your pet is unlikely to have any symptoms and you wouldn’t know that they were infected. If you go this route, be sure to keep the compost pile away from any areas where people or animals play or gather food (such as gardens).Oxo-biodegradable plastic fragments then biodegrades to CO2 and water in landfill while there is oxygen present, then becomes inert when conditions are anaerobic ( more detailed info here). Because the lid is the only thing you’ll remove if you need to deal with poop, a dedicated trash can is ideal.
