About this deal

So the thought of some hot twenty-year old rock star picking me out of a crowd turned this book into my very own fantasy bible. I'm going to focus on the actual book itself first, and then talk about the story within it separately. Don't get me wrong, I love as a voyeur reading this incredible memoir, but I'm surprised she wouldn't be afraid to open up a can of worms about the improprieties considering their age discrepancy.

Uncertain about who he was and where his career was going, Elvis turned to spiritualism, dragging an uninterested Priscilla with him. im still very excited for the movie, bc sofia coppola is mother, but this book was just gross to read. All Priscilla does mention is the idea of mothering, how she enjoyed taking care of the king of rock n roll himself.Even more difficult is the denial Priscilla lived in at the time of writing this memoir 38 years ago. Surrounded constantly by his entourage and managed closely by his father and by Colonel Parker, Elvis had precious little control over his own life—but in Priscilla’s telling, he had complete control over her.

She genuinely laughed recounting many stories, and transformed her voice when narrating dialogue from other characters in Elvis's circle (her experience as an actress helped here, I imagine).I was a teenager when he died, and neither I nor most of my peers were fans; in the event his name did come up, we’d invariably ask, “Wait. The ninth grader was invited to a party at Elvis’s house by one of his friends, who persuaded her parents to let her attend by promising she would be chaperoned. I’ve always adored their story since first seeing the movie “Elvis and me” as a child which was depicted from this book. I am an Elvis fan and although I still love his music and what he represents in American culture, this book definitely changed my perception of him as a person.

Also during this time, Elvis considered hiring a hit man to kill Stone, but ultimately didn't follow through. I am struggling to figure this out myself and am worried that the reading of this book at such a young age has caused permanent and irreversible brain damage. In any case, this is one of the greatest memoirs I've ever read as far as being interesting, and Priscilla was incredibly forthcoming in the details. While I found the book entertaining, it seems like she wanted to be remembered as blameless in the relationship.
