I think I wouldn't mind acting like Amelia, what with the other toys being so mean, straight-laced and hypocritical! Amelia Jane is cold as well because she didn't listen to the toys when they advised her to wear thick clothing, but she suddenly thinks of an idea to warm herself up. In the 50's and 60's Blyton was criticized for the language in her book, for being to simple, but some 300 are still in print today. However, as it turns out, Blyton's writing style is crowd pleasing and before I knew it, all of my kids were into the stories with my oldest *asking* for it to be read.
