About this deal

Final Audio must have used a dwarf elf as its ergonomic model as there is no adult human on Earth for whom these will fit comfortably. Soft vibrations emanate from the lows but do not pulsate, instead of reproducing a more natural output of frequency information while retaining light coloration. By warm I mean there is a thickness to the lows and mids resulting in metal tracks not sounding hollow and flat like on more neutral headphones.

In this Final Audio UX3000 review, we're looking at the first wireless headphones with active noise cancellation from a company that's happen to turn out everything from wildly expensive headphones (its D8000 planar magnetic model will set you back thousands) to humble entry-level stuff (the E500 wired in-ears cost the same as a round of drinks).Interestingly, these headphones have the same SHIBO finish as the final ZE3000 TWS earphones; this is great because it means they’re resistant to fingerprints and it adds an element of interest to an otherwise spartan design. The only issue I have found is that the earpads are quite warm and even during the Scottish winter they can make my ears quite hot and sweaty. As I am not directly familiar with the "high end" range of headphones, I offer my opinions with a grain of salt. By featuring a completely new driver which is designed to be strong against stress and having its high-frequencies being applied with a slight correction through anequaliser, UX3000 delivers pleasing sound quality without the tiring sound characteristic typical for Bluetooth audio products. However, on closer inspection, it’s clear that the build quality is good – but it’s not exactly a premium feel.

I will be using these as my everyday Bluetooth headphones until at least the Edifier Stax Spirit S3 is released (hopefully May according to Edifier). This results in slightly less clarity but the overall result is still pleasing and fits well with the slightly warm sound characteristics. The bass is nicely textured, while the guitar has a liquidy warble at some points but some bite to it at others. Voice control is available from either Google Assistant or Siri, and there are some physical controls around the edge of both earcups too.

For in relation to these headphones, most of the reviews I have read are almost all of high praise, namely from Trusted Reviews - "2022 Best Affordable Headphones", Tech Radar - "Editor's Choice", T3 - "Platinum Award", Hi-Fi Choice - "Recommended", in addition, they are rated 4. Ideally I would like APTX, APTX HD, APTX lossless, LDAC or the yet to be available LE and LC3 codecs under bluetooth 5. The UX3000 should last for 35 hours from a single charge if ANC is switched off, and 25 hours or so if it’s switched on. The hybrid noise cancellation is also a big benefit it works really well and reduces a good amount of unwanted noise. The connection range and strength are generally good, but entirely inside the average: my usual test of walking around the house reveals that the UX3000 cannot keep a stable connection in the whole flat and start stuttering when I venture more than ~5m away from my computer.Purely in terms of quality, though, the UX3000 are top notch: bass is tight, fast and well detailed, with very good physicality. There’s a good amount of room for improvement in this series, from its more recessed sound elements to its sometimes fatiguing fit.

I find it very fatiguing due to it being overblown: there are multiple generous peaks that make it harsh and unpleasant, with cymbals that end up being piercing.By analyzing the sound samples collected from both microphones and generate a highly accurate anti-noise signal, UX3000 is capable of removing the ambient noise at high efficiency. It reminds me of the finish you can often find on cameras and it gives the UX3000 a unique look, with a gently rough surface that’s pleasant to the touch. The trumpet parts have a good balance that pierce through the mix, with just the right amount of smoothness up top. The earcups can fold inward when the headphones are not in use – there is a soft carrying pouch to help prevent scratching in storage – and swivel out by 90 degrees for sitting nicely around the neck. The additional layers of things like strings, sitar, and light percussion are nicely layered, with good separation.
