About this deal

Combining in a perfect storm, a young, on form, enthusiastic director, a failing prop forcing invention, a tight script, excellent performances and that score and you have a film that once seen is never forgotten. And finally, the finer colour textures and enhanced clarity also work to better resolve the film’s inherent grain. outweigh the pluses, namely a movie that doesn't stray from the basics, a few honest scares, and impressive up-close shark work.

Visuals offer a healthy upgrade over the previous release and while it’s a touch disappointing that no additional audio tracks or extras have been included, fans of the film will still find value in its enhanced picture quality.I took a look at it briefly, it looks pretty good but flipping between the two I just didn’t feel like the Dolby Vision was offering much of an enhancement overall, at least not enough to raise hell for it not being on disc. What crap artwork and that slip is horrendous what the hell is up with these folk just give us the original poster art on the steel or the slip. Unlike the first film that held back the shark as long as possible (partly due to technical difficulties with Bruce), Jaws 2 gives the audience what they paid to see, lots of blood and lots of screams.

Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. aspect ratio, and uses 10-bit video depth, a Wide Colour Gamut (WCG), High Dynamic Range (with support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10+) and is encoded using the HEVC (H. The franchise quickly follows what would become the typical slasher structure, especially for slasher sequels, with more of the killer, more deaths, and a lot more blood. Former New York City police officer Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) had hoped for less stress when he took a job as the chief of police on the tiny New England island of Amity.Indeed, the whole film is masterful, from the over talking of the characters, the clichés it lays down (the Mayor thinking only of the town, the grizzled loner that everyone turns too etc.

Sure, there’s nothing to “new” about a great white shark eating people off the coast of a New England island community, but dang did the filmmakers come up with some clever ways for this toothy killer to enjoy a snack. Note: this set includes the new 4K UHD disc and the same 1080p disc from the previous 2016 release, so comparisons between the two releases can be made below. Unnecessary, but a solid follow-up finds Roy Scheider going through that hell again of fighting off another deadly great white. If the slip was the the original poster (front the front) and the steelbook art is from the back - that would have paid off.Retaining the wonderful tone and vibe of the first film – which the initial attempt at the production looked to avoid – and throwing a handful of terrific set-piece attacks means that while it will never ever scale the giddy heights of the first film, it remains a hugely fun and somewhat worthy follow up. the sheer verve it conveys; comedic (Hooper and Quint’s interactions), heart-breaking (Mrs Kinter’s breakdown at Brody), horrific (Quint’s death) and the edge of your seat thrill (underwater filming of unaware bathers). Today, the film remains potent but is more notable for the fact that it takes its time telling its story and building suspense. The “French” Joke – Essentially this tells of how the title had to be changed in France to accommodate the translation. But while we get to spend more time with the kids here that ultimately pays off in the third act, it still feels like a major slowing down of the film's frantic pace and it’s coupled with a lack of anything of any real interest for Scheider’s Chief of Police to do other than repeat all the same character and story beats from the first film (although how much of this is down to the actor’s infamous hatred of having to be involved and his very public falling out with the director on set remains to be seen…).
