About this deal

lens does not provide enough background blur when you want to fit a larger subject (like a 3/4 or full person) in the frame.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm F1.8 Overview: Digital

It takes a bit of effort to mount it onto our Olympus E-M10 camera and feels very secure on the camera -- no wiggle or play. With outstanding sharpness, even wide-open, as well as minimal CA, vignetting and distortion, the new 25mm ƒ/1. Both lenses have very fast and quiet autofocus and both are relatively well-built, though the focus ring on the Olympus 25mm feels a little less robust than the nicely gripped rubber focus ring on the Panasonic. allows me to use ISO3200 rather than 6400 at weddings, it allows faster shutter speeds, has weather sealing, PRO build quality, but the 25 f1.Barely bigger than a pancake lens, this Olympus gives the same field of view as using a 50mm standard prime on a full-frame camera, along with a fast f/1. The test camera, the Olympus OM-D E-M5, was set on a tripod, triggered with the 2 second self time to avoid movement from pressing the shutter, and in-body IS was set off. being wider is true – but it depends if you still want really smooth bokeh, you can step much further back with the PRO lense and as they say “have your cake and eat it too”. Nice to hear that the Panasonic even it’s older focuses fast, this was my main concern about this lens for long time. If you really want to judge, put the P/L 25mm on a GX7 and the Olympus 25mm on the E-M1 and you’ll see a BIG difference.

Still up in the air considering which 25mm would be good to go with when I’m ready… go back to the Pany 25 (which I previously owned and really liked the IQ)? As with other Olympus lenses with an AF/MF clutch, you can disable it in the camera menu, which I often do as I tend to accidentally engage manual focus on these lenses. We use Imatest SFR (spatial frequency response) charts and analysis software to plot lens resolution at the center of the image frame, corners and mid-point distances, across the range of aperture settings and, with zoom lenses, at four different focal lengths. In that test, we couldn’t think of any real disadvantages, other than that you don’t get a sun cap with the purchase of an Olympus 45 mm f/1.Zuiko PRO series, supporting versatile photographic opportunities, including dynamic ultra-wide angle landscape photos, outdoor portraits, and video. Well, to simply cut to the chance, the 8-25mm f/4 Pro is another fantastic, high-quality lens from Olympus with very good overall image quality. When assessing sharpness across the aperture range, at both 8mm and 25mm, sharpness is very good wide-open and remains so as you stop down until about f/8.

feels to be constructed from polycarbonate plastic, in either a smooth matte black or a matte silver finish, with a metal lens mount. lens bares Olympus' "MSC" (Movie and Still Compatible) designation meaning the electronic "High-speed Imager AF" system is nearly silent to help avoid picking up focusing noise in videos. On the very end of the lens, Olympus has included a bayonet-style cover ring, or "decoration ring" in Olympus lingo, that's designed to cover the grooves for attaching a lens hood.

Since the success of the Olympus OM-D E-M5, Olympus has decided to continue in the direction of system cameras for the serious amateur photographer. It feels solid and well-balanced on big and small Micro Four Thirds cameras, alike, and its compact size and light weight make it an excellent everyday, go-anywhere fast prime for portraits and low-light shooting. to your kit is a great idea if you’re interested in taking beautiful images of your family and friends, or even your food when you’re out to eat! It uses a revolutionary new way of arranging imaging elements to let more light in while boosting low light performance.
