Rat-a-Tat Cat is a little too simple for hardcore gamers but for children and families, it is phenomenal (one of the best family/children’s games I’ve reviewed). Learn the Trouble rules or read up on the Guess Who instructions, 2 classic board games designed for kids that have truly managed to stand the test of time.

Although the gameplay is in a circle one at a time, allow players to peek at 2 of their cards when the game begins, the ones at the ends of their line. Why we love it: Quite often you’ll find that playing games that are the simplest are also the ones that are the most fun. While Rat-a-Tat Cat isn’t the most educational game out there, it does still help kids learn things and build skills.If they discard a '5' though we know that the card that they kept was less than or equal to 5 and their 5 was most likely their highest value card (discarding the highest known card, or an unknown card if the difference between the known card and kept is less than the AVG difference between an unknown card and kept card is optimal play. But you reasoning made me realize that hidden information begins to be revealed as the draw pile gets close to exhausted, for those who precisely track all cards played. This unknown random card is discarded face up for their opponent to take, so eventually all low cards will be claimed by the end of the draw deck. Power cards have no point value, if one of them is among your cards at the end of the game, you must replace it with a card drawn from the draw pile.

In a 5 player game, if the discard pile gets reshuffled into a new draw pile a hidden Power Card is worth 7.Be forewarned: There is abundant potty humor in this one, but that is why your children won’t be able to resist it.

Another nice thing about the game is that the box is small (a little bigger than a deck of cards) and very portable. I just played my first 5 player game yesterday and did not enjoy a similar level of success when employing that strategy.
