About this deal

In a recent interview with Performance Marketing World, the Co-founder of Surreal cereal, Kit Gammel and their Senior Creative John Thornton discussed how they’ve managed to creatively scale in a very saturated market within a very short time. One of the guiding principles –‘Never stop playing’– is rooted in the idea that a “playful mindset is a healthy mindset”, he explains. The packaging also displays the nutritional value clearly; icons explain the food’s carb content and that the cereal is keto-friendly. As initially said, the creative marketing team needed Ronaldo, Serena Williams, Michael Jordan, and Dwayne Johnson. Available in four flavours - Frosted, Cocoa, Cinnamon and Peanut Butter, each bowl has a whopping 14 grams of protein and zero grams of sugar, making them one of the most nutritious cereals out there!

In other money-saving news, we've built our new office out of papier mache, and we now pay our staff with coins made out of tin foil. That’s where protein cereal comes in; amongst myriad health benefits, protein plays a crucial role in helping you feel fuller for longer. They knew that simply creating a delicious cereal wasn’t enough; they needed a hook that would capture the attention of consumers. Surreal is a new range of cereal, geared towards a more mature audience; the four flavours are sugar-free, gluten-free and vegan.

However, if you’re prioritising convenient nutrition at breakfast, then Surreal is value for money, particularly when you opt for their subscription service. In contrast, protein cereal provides nutritional value to your morning and keeps you fuller for longer. We sat down with Nobel-Prize winning scientist, World Cup winning footballer, and cereal-entrepreneur Professor Jac Chetland MBE (ex-Apple) to find out how you can get ahead in your career without actually doing anything.

In other words, the creative team cracked the idea of enlisting random persons who bear these famous names and creatively deployed them in endorsing their cereal. The SURREAL recipes are plant-based and gluten free, meaning they’re suitable for all sorts of diets too! The finance team said we’d been spending too much money, so to shut them up we made the world’s most budget billboard. But even though sugary cereals of our childhoods might taste great, the high-junk content means most adults no longer eat them - or do with a side of guilt. Founded by Vita Coco veterans Kit Gammell and Jac Chetlad, Surreal cereals are sugar-free, gluten-free and vegan cereals inspired by our favourite (although less healthy) childhood staples.

I may receive a commission if you make a purchase through some of the links on this page (see full disclaimer here). Traditional cereals are made of sugar and grains, with very little nutritional value; they have you sniffing out your next sugar hit before you’ve even reached 11am.From the moment we saw their humorous launch announcement on LinkedIn, we just knew we had to try and review Surreal cereal.

But you’ll agree it’s almost impossible for us to want to sell and tell a story with these big names in it without duly mentioning each of them in the headline once we mention one. We handed out free spoons on London Bridge and we ran some billboards taking cheeky pops at our more famous friends and their high sugar content. But, there are the occasional instances where new brands have not only been able to break through, but actually stand their ground against competitive giants. We walked in and sat down at their desks, and got all the pictures before ultimately we got moved on.
