About this deal

This scanner is cheaper than the Uniden Bearcat UBC3500XLT (now discontinued) but is still capable of receiving both civilian and military aircraft transmissions. This antenna is for "Wide Band" performance and does NOT narrow down to certain bands, This antenna works well for the Air band and more.

The Step size will depend on the scanner and some can scan through a list of frequencies using the following steps:- 5, 6. I also support the import/export of Butel ARC125 format files so whatever you have already programmed can be easily imported. This allows fast and intuitive access to the many interesting pre-programmed frequencies - ensuring the user is up and scanning as quickly as possible. Comes with a 12V lead to plug into your cig socket in the car and also a mains power supply to power it at home.

Ideally make a list of all the frequencies you are likely to want to listen to and then see which of the scanners covers all of them. In general, I've found it to be excellent for the purpose and so sensitive that it does well on the rubber duck when in the open air. Went for the Watson W-889 Tele-Gainer in the end, very similar to the 881, but telescopic, making it a bit more portable.

Both VHF and UHF are short range, line-of-sight radio transmissions which are restricted to a maximum range of about 200 miles due to the curvature of the earth and usually considerably less depending on the surroundings (hills etc). P25 phase 1 system or Motorolla system, once on menu for edit name you will scroll to Edit sys option, push yes. I'm Nick, the author of the Scan125 software and stumbled upon this post and your problem with getting my Scan125 Control Program running.I like the look of the Watson W881, but I have heard that the Nagoya NA771 is very good too and it is much cheaper. After installing the driver the scanner should be listed as either a BC125 or UBC125 in the Windows device manager. A: To program this scanner manually, you will first want to make sure that everything is deleted out of it first, like the preprogrammed states such as Alaska. The scanner seems nice, but I have to say that I am a bit put out at having paid for a product, I am directed in the instructions to download paid software to go with it.

Now, I sometimes get lots of interference on 70cm simplex channels but still want to listen to the repeaters. If you want to listen to military aircraft transmissions then you will need a scanner that has a frequency range of 225-400MHz. But again, the 320-400 segment is lumped in with 400-520, and there doesn't seem to be a Broadcast Screen like the 3500 has. After you enter in frequency you will push yes key and if you have another frequency then scroll down to new channel, push yes.I would have expected at least light version of some software that I could use to programme the scanner. Ideal for listening to the communication from Civil Air traffic Control, Boats, truckers operating on CB radio, Ham Radio/Amateur Operators, Sporting events, Churches and Mosques etc. This compact handheld is our cheapest model that covers the military airband channels as well as the civil airband. With banks, I'd have to either turn off all of amateur, or turn off the simplex channels which would be in their own bank. Note that all scanners work slightly differently and you should always consult the manual for your particular model.
