About this deal

An excellent explanation of UK coordinate systems can be found in "A guide to coordinate systems in Great Britain" which can be downloaded from here. Pretty sure farmer has diverted this slightly and the path no longer enters the trig field, to access the trig you need to go through a gate which is clearly labelled as no public access. At one time that would have been an irritation but as years advance I believe it is more important to be honest and do the things you know you want to rather than feel guilty about the unfinished ones - that is of course providing your actions do not infringe on others. The route here takes you past Butterley, Blackley and Wessenden Reservoirs as you head up the valley on the track.

Horrobin Mill Bleachworks, one of the oldest bleachworks in the Bolton area, ceased trading in 1937 after 150 years activity. Here you need to cross the fence and continue to follow the path, which eventually becomes a worn vehicle track, towards West Nab trig pillar.

If you are continuing straight on to Stage 56 then consider refreshments at the Strawberry Duck pub, which is just around the corner from the railway bridge. A pleasant lane climbed steeply through trees then opened onto hillside with the track badly eroded by running water which had defeated cobbled engineered drainage crossing the track.

With limited time today an hours drive had me mopping up three trigs on the south-western corner of the map. Then follow the path with some duckboards to left of a lone tree by a small hillock to a marker post.Trig points, or trigonometrical stations to give them their proper name, are a common sight and much-loved feature of Britain’s hills. Includes the ability to log visits, view logs, save and filter offline Waymarks and use beautiful offline maps! The summit can be identified by: ground by tree Additional Notes: All the walks up Williamson Park on Mud and Routes can be seen above. Lancashire Constabulary was the first to use the site for one of their base stations in 1950; they had to build the road and it is said to have been built by policemen. The data was provided by the Ordnance Survey who have kindly their given permission to post on the web.You will have to register, free of charge, to use the Passive Station database and on-line converter.

Beacon Hill is a mountain summit in the Ingleborough to Blackpool region in the county of Lancashire, England. Halton Hill is a mountain summit in the Penrith to Lancaster region in the county of Lancashire, England. The reservoir was protected by two sets of very high and well constructed fencing more akin to something at Porton Down.I hope this comment - the usual non-sequitur I go in for these days - makes up for my absences from Conrad Walks of late. From the road enter the car park on your right and head to the back of it and pick up a Concessionary Footpath.
