About this deal

You can read my review of that earlier edition to get my thoughts on the film, which are largely unchanged from three years ago.

if your a fan of the movie like myself and know it too well, yes I think you will notice improvement.RoboCop was a huge hit in theaters and yet it gained a far larger following on home video, beginning with a 1986 Orion VHS tape and lasting through multiple digital formats (it was reissued on VHS as late as 2000 and still hasn’t found its way to a 4K format yet). Arrow has reissued their excellent two-disc RoboCop set on 4K, even going so far as to source new 4K scans of the trims that were added back in for the Director’s Cut (and originally taken out to avoid an X rating). The gorgeous 43-page booklet that comes with the 4K steelbook edition includes an in-depth essay by Henry Blyth that further breaks down the differences between the three cuts. The images on this page are taken from the remastered Arrow Blu-ray, NOT the 4K UHD and sized for the page. As RoboCop's memories of his former life as Murphy resurface, only his ex-partner (Nancy Allen, Dressed To Kill) stands beside him to fight against the vicious thugs responsible for his death, as well as a nefarious top-level OCP executive orchestrating the chaos from above.

Director Paul Verhoeven hadn't really made his mark in Hollywood, and took a bit of persuading to do the movie, with neither him nor his cast of misfits really certain as to what would become of it, turning in a modestly-budgeted and extremely taut 103 minute thriller which would end up being one of the greatest movies of all time. Heroic cop Alex Murphy (Peter Weller, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai) is gunned down in the line of duty, only to be resurrected as RoboCop, a cybernetic mix of spare human parts and Motor City steel, and the latest defense against crime designed by the all-powerful OCP Corporation. ROBOCOP comes to 4K Ultra HD ™ with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos in Limited Edition and Steelbook Packages, from Arrow Video, on 28th March 2022 .Connecting the Shots (11:06, HD) – Second unit director Mark Goldblatt (director of Dead Heat [1988] and The Punisher [1989]) talks about working his way up to a job on RoboCop and his frequent collaborations with Verhoeven. That trends continues with Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop, which was issued on two-disc Blu-ray in 2019 and now comes to 4K in an identical edition packaged in a nice SteelBook case.
