For all new aspirants, I recommend another marvelous book 'The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna', as a good starting point. It's one of the Scriptures which i always recommend for "understanding" the life changing Wisdom which the Great Ramana expressed. Part II is entitled “Inquiry and Surrender” and three out of the four chapters, herein, discuss the process of self-inquiry.

If, on the contrary, you withdraw your mind completely from the world and turn it within and abide there, that is, if you keep awake always to the Self which is the substratum of all experiences, you will find the world of which you are now aware is just as unreal as the world in which you lived in your dream. When one remains without thinking one understands another by means of the universal language of silence. they also may be one in us;" but it is the climax of the whole unifying process, after the likeness of the union between the Father and the Son, viz.Several devotees recorded the answers to their own specific questions, or kept the sheets of paper on which Ramana answered, and had them later published. This was my first book on Ramana Maharshi/Advaita vedanta and Jnana Yoga and now I'm hungry for more.

e. the relation between the Father and Son, the manner in which the Father lives in the Son, as in his organ or instrument of manifestation and object of supreme affection, and as the Son is in the Father, abiding ever in the light of his glory, in the power of his Name, and as these two are thus One in being, so, or similarly, the believers are to live in and for each other, becoming a unity, just as the Father and Son are unity. It entered into those who turned to Sri Bhagavan in their hearts without being able to go bodily to Tiruvannamalai. Dialogues with Ramana are arranged by topics, with the most important teachings on each subject differentiated from the remainder. that they all may be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe [without any doubt] that You sent Me.His answers to every question, despite being somewhat disconnected from normal human experience, seem to be correct; truthful on a very fundamental level and there is so much consistency in all his answers. From then on it is more a process of being than doing, of effortless being rather than an effort to be. Although it may seem at a first look into this book that Sri Ramana is ignoring his own advice, "to leave off all this verbiage" this is not in fact the case.
