The PMA-600NE’s chassis has been constructed using Denon’s proprietary Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC) method, so only the “true and intended nuances of the music are amplified and transmitted”, minimising the effects of vibrations from the surround environment. Analogue connections include a MM Phono input, two optical inputs and a coaxial input.One high level RCA input had to be cut for this purpose. The Denon is also quite powerful. The manufacturer specifies a full 2 x 70 watts at four ohms load. This means the same power as the 520, whereby a pair of high-current transistors in a broadband push-pull circuit is intended to provide excellent loudspeaker control.
Borrowing from the 800NE has also shortened the signal paths in the unit and improved the mechanical design with regard to low resonance/vibration dissipation. This includes the significantly improved feet that have been adopted from the larger siblings. Also several components are now of a higher quality. For example the unbranded electrolytic capacitors and other components in the 520AE have here been replaced with higher quality ones from ELNA, Nichicon, Rubycon and others. According to Denon, this is where the increased liveliness, dynamics and the even more powerful "punch" comes from. This plastic sheet (about six inches by three inches in size) is attached to the top of the amp by four plastic clips which have been clipped to four of the holes of the grille in the metal case of the amp. It would not be easy to remove this plastic sheet, so I assume that it is not to be removed. What is the purpose of this plastic sheet, please? Sound. Some people believe that all entry-level amps don’t come with the best sounds. But Denon has proved this wrong with their PMA-600NE integrated amplifier. You have the right to invest your money into good sounds. The last thing you want is your music coming out worse than when you listened directly from speakers. The "problem" was the different immediate environments of the two speakers. The environment of the left speaker was enhancing its volume, while the quite different environment of the right speaker (on the other side of the considerably large room) was reducing it. The Denon 600ne cd player rapidly won me over with its easy layout and focus on the tiniest of details, and I now consider it one of my favourite audio devices. I now have near-equal balance between the two speakers when the amp is in "Direct Source" mode. And by turning the Balance Control a little to the right, with "Direct Source" switched off, I now have perfect balance.

It will be quite some time before you start thinking about upgrading from the Denon 600ne. As far as sounds go, it’s up there with the finest of them. Having Bluetooth and other communication options makes them quite useful. However, those seeking further functionality should go elsewhere. My speakers are a bit old and don’t sound very good, but the machine still delivered more than I hoped. So, when I changed the speakers, I could see clearly why the amp is at the top of the market.
