About this deal

The PGA have recognised Dan’s coaching achievements by honouring him with Advanced Fellowship of the PGA and is a Golf Monthly UK Top-50 Coach. I'd recommend it if you want to better understand chipping but one section in particular kind of made me go "whoa". After the Short Game School you will be given access to a Short Game Group online with reminders on everything covered on the day.

If you can find a pro that teaches this method as well then you can’t go wrong but in my experience most teaching professionals in the U. Also, perhaps it depends on the courses you play somewhat but I find that more often than not, I appreciate having that extra loft. It seems to me teachers are moving away from the shaft lean style and teaching more to use the bounce.

The pro gave me a fairly handsy method so I feel it’s like tossing a piece of paper under arm from a side on stance. We spent a couple entire lessons (this was about 15 years ago and 15 years after I started playing golf) learning Use The Bounce.

My guess is he's extreme about not using the LW because it is hard for a lot of ams to use and his overall message is that there is a whole universe of shots that should be considered for every situation so we should stop grabbing 60* by default. You might get better results chipping cross handed or as I witnessed someone do on Monday in a tournament chipping one handed. One thing I didn’t really get about his book was where he talks about how the lob wedge should only be for emergencies. Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition.

Imo both techniques have pros and cons, but if you can master the more neutral approach, it opens up a greater variety of shots. Be able to set up correctly for the shot you face and understand your Key Points to be able to correctly execute that shot. Did this for a few years, untill I was taught something different, that made me a much better chipper.

Besides coaching amateur golfers far and wide, he has helped dozens of Tour Players to dozens of wins - including Georgia Hall’s victory at the 2018 Women’s Open. The upshot is that at least 7 out of 10 short game shots I need to make are out of thick rough onto a small, fast green, often over a raised mound or sometimes bunker. Unless you have a fluffy lie it takes great hand-eye coordination and steady nerves to do anything other than chunk or blade chips. There is also an Advanced Short Game School for those who have attended the standard Short Game School where you will get into how to play from tougher lies and master the art of Pitching. From these techniques he expands into the man complexities but it’s always easy to digest and more importantly actually works in real life! It's a fairly simple to read book that I think is pretty effective at illustrating three styles of chipping and when and how to use them. Host of the UK’s most attended short game school, Daniel Grieve has released an all-encompassing new book, designed to simplify the short game and create clarity of thought around the greens. Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab . As mentioned above, Grieve advocates 40-90 yard shots as an extension of short game , and played like pitch shots rather than partial full shots and for for me the approach to these is an interesting one.

I haven't read this one, but I have read Your Short Game Solution: Mastering the Finesse Game from 120 Yards and In by James Sieckmann, which I highly recommend. From my 2022 Shot Scope data, I learned that my short game was an area in which I could improve a lot. Got this as a gift as well, I’ve seen a few of his YouTube videos and really looking forward to reading the book and working on the techniques. In 2022 I suffered from "Lob Wedge Addiction" using my 58* wedge 43% of the time (average proximity and up/down 20' and 24%, respectively) whereas it turned out that I was much more effective with a chipper, putter or hybrid in terms of proximity and up/down %. Acclaimed short game coach Daniel Grieve has released a new book that hopes to simplify things around the greens, allowing golfers to easily to vary setup, ball flights, and spin rates to give them a greater range of shots to use.Besides coaching amateur golfers from far and wide on a one-to-one basis, Dan delivers the most attended short game school in the UK. Joining DG Academy gives you the very best chance to improve your golf by MAKING YOUR LEARNING STICK! Besides coaching amateur golfers from far and wide on a one-to-one basis, Dan has helped Tour Players to dozens of wins - including Georgia Hall’s victory at the 2018 Women’s Open Championship. A few weeks learning Use The Bounce made chipping easier than the old way had ever been, even after a decade-plus of practice. I'm not an expert, but from reading the book and following him for a while on Instagram, I don't think he would have an issue with using loft with what you described.
