About this deal

The lithium-ion battery is a hazardous component that can cause injury. Battery replacement by an unqualified professional can cause damage to your device. Thanks to LG’s partnership with Meridian, the company’s earbuds have never left me wanting in the sound department. Even with the first LG earbuds I reviewed – the LG FN6 – I was surprised by the confidence of the audio, even without any form of ANC. LG’s noise-cancelling range of earbuds has received an update, with the LG Tone Free UFP8 the mid-range option from a lineup of three new devices.

The UFP8 continued to stand their ground on public transport. This time, I decided to listen to the audiobook of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, to see if I could get through an entire journey without needing to rewind. The earbuds passed the test without breaking a sweat, although I did turn up the volume slightly when faced with the unholy sounds of the London Underground. To install the "LG TONE Free" app, search LG TONE Free in the Google Play Store or App Store or scan the QR code below. This Warranty does not cover any failure of the product due to normal wear and tear, or due to misuse, including but not limited to use in other than the normal and customary manner, in accordance with instructions for use and maintenance of the product. Nor does this warranty cover any failure of the product due to accident, modification or adjustment, acts of God or damage resulting from liquid. Duration of use may vary depending on the connected mobile device, features being used, settings, signal strength, operating temperature, frequency band, and other methods of use. Permanent hearing loss may occur if you use your Headset at a high volume. Set the volume to a safe level. You can adapt over time to a higher volume of sound that may sound normal but can be damaging to your hearing. This is one of those improvements that’s difficult to gauge unless you try the buds on for yourself – but trust me when I say that they made me realise exactly what I’d been missing. While sturdy enough, the LG FN7 would have a tendency to become loose whilst on a run, making regular adjustments a must. In fact, I’d been doing that for so long that I’d almost come to accept it as standard practice.

The product may be damaged if an incompatible charger is used. Make sure that an infant or child does not swallow a magnet or a small component of the product. Factory reset and Search mode cannot be used in Plug and Wireless mode. Specifications and Features Item Open the cover of the charging case with the earbuds mounted on the case. Press and hold the touchpad of the left or right earbud for 3 to 5 seconds until the battery status indicator blinks in blue.

Do not carelessly throw away old batteries. It can cause an explosion or fire. The disposal method may vary by country and region. Dispose of it in an appropriate manner. This warranty does not cover product failures due to improper repair installations, modifications or service performed by a non-LG Electronics authorised person. Tampering with any of the seals on the product will void the warranty. While they might look like a minor update to the uninformed passerby, the UFP8 are in fact LG’s most accomplished pair of earbuds yet, adding some welcome features while also neglecting to raise the price over their predecessor. As far as updates go, it’s hard to ask for more. Design A rechargeable battery has a long service life if treated properly. A new battery or one that has not been used for a long period of time could have reduced capacity the first few times it is used. Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures, never above +50° or below -10°. For maximum battery capacity, use the battery in room temperature. If the battery is used in low temperatures, the battery capacity will be reduced. The battery can only be charged in temperatures between 0° and +45°. When using a Bluetooth device (TV, laptop, etc.) other than the mobile phone, the sound quality may be affected by the specifications and performance of the device

The FP9 and FP8 come with one of LG’s new UVnano cases, which cleans the buds as they charge up with UV light. A cleaning case might not seem like a top priority, but a lot of bacteria we’d rather not think about can collect on your earbuds – especially if you use them 24/7 and take them to the gym. Leaving a battery in an extremely high temperature surrounding environment that can result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas. All batteries/accumulators should be disposed separately from the municipal waste stream via designated collection facilities appointed by the government or the local authorities.

How long does the LG Tone Free FP9 battery last?

We’re not quite sure how the “Natural” preset got its name, but in essence the main thing it does to your music is massively emphasize the highs—more than the Treble Boost EQ preset, even. This preset might appeal to you if you listen to mostly podcasts or people (as it would increase speech intelligibility) but we don’t recommend it for music outside of orchestral recordings. Ever want to hear the prolonged string vibrations in Clair de lune? Enable this preset. By underemphasizing mids and lows as much as it does, it will sound anything but “natural.” What about the Custom EQ profiles? The earbuds are both IPX4 rated, so they’re fine for sweaty workouts and light rain showers, and LG promises a more comfortable fit for active lifestyles. This suggests they’re designed for all-day wear, but could be a good choice if you're looking for a new pair of fitness headphones, too. The output level shall automatically return to an output level not exceeding RS1 when the power is switched off.

Anytime new or improved features are added to a product, there will always be a concern over their impact on battery life. LG seems to have anticipated those very worries by giving the UFP8 a noticeable bump over the FN7, with a quoted longevity of 10 hours from the earbuds themselves, and an additional 14 hours via the charging case; this nets you up to 24 hours in total. When equipment that uses 2.4 GHz frequency signals (Wireless LANs, wireless phones, microwave ovens, etc.) is placed near the devices being used For those moments when you want to catch what’s happening around you, Ambient mode is still available, with the feature getting noticeably better with each new pair of headphones. It’s something I make great use of when at home or at a train station, but it doesn’t beat the AfterShokz Aeropex for true awareness of your surroundings. I’ve never known a company to release wireless earbuds into the world with the same level of speed as LG. With the UFP8, this marks the third pair of wireless earbuds I’ve tested from the Korean manufacturer in under a year and a half. And you’d be excused for assuming that having reviewed so many in such a short period of time, my appreciation for these earbuds would be starting to wear thin – but this couldn’t be further from the truth. There are naturally a lot of true wireless earbuds on the market these days, from the Apple AirPods to the Cambridge Melomania 1, so the question for you is whether LG offers something different – or at least a promising selection of features at a reasonable price.
