About this deal

Expect a relatively small amount of focus breathing from this lens - the subject/framing changes size a small amount when focusing. Arrange the numbers one on top of the other and line up the place values in columns. The number with the most digits is usually placed on top as the multiplicand.

There are, however, many 17 to 50mm (or 55mm) f/2.8 lenses available from other manufacturers - I'll reference some of these later in this review. The Sigma center-and-side-pinch lens cap is very nice and is easy to install or remove with the hood in place. Long multiplication means you're doing multiplication by hand. The traditional method, or Standard Algorithm, involves multiplying numbers and lining up results according to place value. These are the steps to do long multiplication by hand:The first comparison test results I am sharing are from the absolute top left corner of the frame out of a I have some sharp shots taken at .6 and .8 seconds, but the keeper rate is very, very low at these exposure durations. As an example, if you want to find what percentage 15 is of 300, you would divide 15 by 300, resulting in 0.05. Multiplying 0.05 by 100 gives you 5%. Percentages can be used to make the relationship between a portion and a whole easier to understand.

Use long addition to add your number columns from right to left, carrying as you normally do for long addition. Percentages are represented by the symbol "%" and provide a standardized method to compare quantities or indicate changes. You'll find them used in If there is any subject movement, the max aperture available on these lenses is not wide enough to allow the action to be stopped - resulting in motion-blurred images. The word percent is typically used with a number (example: 10 percent) while percentage is typically not used with a number (example: what percentage of the marbles are red?). An exception is percentage points (example: 2 percentage points). With a wide open aperture, expect to see about 1.5 stops of peripheral shading in the corners at the two focal length extremes with noticeably less

The 77mm filter size is not small, but it is very common - making the sharing of certain filters easy (no step-up rings required). The Sigma 17-50 is slightly more expensive than the Tamron 17-50 VC, but the better-optically-performing Tamron 17-50 non-VC is considerably less expensive. This distortion smoothly transitions to mild pincushion distortion at 50mm with approximately 25mm being the near-distortion-free transition focal length. The Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Lens indeed turned in better corner performance at a wide open aperture than stopped down one or perhaps even two stops in this test.

The Sigma 17-50 shows a more-clear advantage in the center of the frame at the lower end of its focal length range. With light being least redirected in the center of their image circles, most lenses perform best in the center of the frame. When multiplying decimals, say, 0.2 0.2 0.2 and 1.25 1.25 1.25, we can begin by forgetting the dots. That means that to find 0.2 × 1.25 0.2 \times 1.25 0.2 × 1.25, we start by finding 2 × 125 2 \times 125 2 × 125, which is 250 250 250. Then we count how many digits to the right of the dots we had in total in the numbers we started with (in this case, it's three: one in 0.2 0.2 0.2 and two in 1.25 1.25 1.25). We then write the dot that many digits from the right in what we obtained. For us, this translates to putting the dot to the left of 2 2 2, which gives 0.250 = 0.25 0.250 = 0.25 0.250 = 0.25 (we write 0 0 0 if we have no number in front of the dot). If your subject is not moving, the Sigma 17-50's 4-stop-rated OS (optical stabilization) will be a great help in achieving sharp handheld shots in low light, There is also the risk of a problem that results in the lens and body manufacturers directing blame at each other.
