As you may have gathered, there are a lot of cards that all do a lot of different things. It can be confusing to teach to new players as they get overwhelmed with each nuance. However, the game does come with 4 handy reference guides. Although reading these can slow down an otherwise pacy game.

Game available in: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Dutch. To find clues and get closer to figuring out challenging cases, pay close attention and choose your favorite gameplay mode for any scene: A major change occurs in number (6) in the IMPROVED EDITION when someone runs out of cards. In the original rules, the player running out of cards calls "OUT." Play is immediately halted and each player having more than five cards in his hand gives two cards to the player who is out of cards. The game also comes with a large plain notepad for players to work out scores. The notepad isn’t anything special and a smaller one would have decreased the box size but it’s nothing to scoff at. With 108 cards there is variance to be had each game. The SCOTLAND YARD rule is identical in all versions. Calling "SCOTLAND YARD" directs the players to pass three cards to the player on his left. It can also be called two times in a row.

Although the original graphic from 1904 shows a player making "a sweep" of his opponents' cards, apparently this action needed to be made clearer. As well, the words "ALL PLAYERS PLAY AT ONCE" are more pronounced in the newer rules. There are big penalties for being caught with a villain or making wrongful arrests, just as there are coveted deductions for making a successful arrest or facilitating an escaping villain. The game is best played in rounds with continuous scoring – we recommend 6! This process is repeated at the end of each round. With 108 cards, it can be quite a handful! It is by no means the longest setup for a game but because you have to do it 6 times it does feel like you’re shuffling for ages.

What else in addition to the name change might have been revamped between the original 1904 game and the next release? Includes 1 playing board, 1 die, 6 playing pieces, 6 Scotland Yard cards, 6 Skeleton Key cards, 75 case cards, and the Rules, Clues & Solutions Booklet Set off on an exciting detective adventure, solve ingenious puzzles and investigate crimes without delay before the real world turns upside down too!Hidden in locations around the board is all the information you’ll need to uncover the mystery. By rolling the dice you move to different locations, discovering clues and battling your opponents for access to crucial areas. Finally, at the very end of the original RULES sheet Parker Brothers notes their location at the Varied Industries Bldg, at the World's Fair in St. Louis. This information is missing from the IMPROVED EDITION's pamphlet. Two quotes that appeared within the early Parker ads were from the Boston Herald. and the New York World. They stated:
